Great sun hat
This hat is amazing. It keeps the sun off my dungeon dwelling balding head while taking the dogs out in the Florida heat. The mesh panels allow for airflow which helps to keep you cool. The ability to cinch the fit of the hat to not only under your chin, it also allows you to cinch around your head to a custom fit. I love this thing.

Good hat, but still need to wear sunscreen on face!
Wore this hat while backpacking the Camino for a month. The hat was good, stayed on really well and because it was so lightweight, it didn't feel like it was going to fly off even in really windy weather. Unfortunately, the bottom half of my face would still get sunburnt even if I wore the hat for the entire day. Even though I couldn't feel the sun, I would find sunburns from under my eyes to my chin if I forgot to reapply. But the hat itself was breathable and seemed to do well protecting my neck and the top hat of my face. I honestly would buy again, it was a decent hat and was perfect for putting in my backpack, it folded easily with no creases. Color was accurate and is adjustable around your head and under your chin, so it should fit pretty much anyone.

Love the hat
This is my second Bora Bora Booney II Sun Hat... Great things about the hat: It sheds water very well and the rim is made to float. It is very light weight and great for the tropics (where I used to live) or the desert (where I live now). It has an elastic adjustable band so one size fits all. I have a pretty big head... 7 3/4 or so... and this hat will fit one bigger. LOL It crushes and packs well, so it is great for travel or backpacking because it can be stuffed into a pretty small space (like a cargo pocket) and then can be pulled out and used when needed. I bought one before traveling to live on an island in the Central Pacific and liked it so much that when I lost it in the surf while snorkeling, I promptly ordered a replaced from Amazon. It also should be noted that it has mesh just above the hat band that extends almost all the way around the hat, so even though you get protection from the sun, you also get to enjoy the cooling effects of air movement. Caveats: I might wish that the rim were stiffer because it folds a little too easily if there is wind. If you are bike riding, sailing, or doing other activity where you expect a lot of air moment, you might find a hat with a stiffer brim more useful. I do realize, though, that the hat is great for its purpose and a stiffer brim would make it less packable, thus less suited for my needs. My one other criticism would be the strength of the chin strap and its attachment to the hat itself. Mine was washed off my head in the mild surf of a tropical lagoon because the strap was ripped away from the hat proper. Please keep in mind, though, that even though I had a few less than nice things to say, the hat so well suits my life and needs that I bought another the instant that I lost mine. So... to sum up... great hat, excellent for walking, hiking, backing, travel around the world when weight and size are crucial... not that good for strong winds. Mine has been with me now to 5 different countries and has visited every hemisphere (North, South, East, and West).

very nice sun hat, easily fits a larger head, but not worth double the price of the competition
I also have a Tru-Spec boonie hat that I also like, but mostly use as a spare (stored in the car). TRU-SPEC Boonie, One Size, Khaki Compared to the Tru-Spec hat, this Columbia hat is more expensive, lighter weight (2.8 ounces vs 3.8 ounces), and more breathable. The Tru-Spec hat uses the same fabric throughout, while Columbia uses a lightweight, part-mesh fabric on the top (more breathable) and a stiff fabric for the brim (less likely to droop over my eyes). The Columbia hat has 3 inch brims (vs 2.5 inches for Tru-Spec) for more sun coverage, though perhaps a little more bulky and more likely to snag tree branches. Tru-Spec is a poly-cotton ripstop, while Columbia is all nylon. I have a larger head (size 7.5) and both hats fit me with plenty of room to spare. Both hats have a tightening cord in back, which works great. Both hats also have a chin strap, which is very handy in the wind. Minus one star because the price for the Columbia hat is now $28 (was $18 when I bought it). The Tru-Spec hat is only $12. While the Columbia hat is a little more breathable, it is certainly not twice as good as the Tru-Spec hat.

Great hat to keep the sun off your head.
I have used this hat on a couple of trips now and it has held up well. It is water esistant and comfortable in hot weather (Arizona desert). It's reasonably priced, and i would purchase it again

Comfy, protective & rocks the safari look!
I live in the tropics and the sun blazes relentlessly day in and day out. So I wear head protection and the Bora Bora Booney is a smart and comfy way to keep skin on my bean. It packs easily, compressing into almost nothing. As far as hats go, it's cooler than average due to the mesh ventilation and lightweight fabric, and certainly cooler than my cotton bucket and ball caps. But not as cool as my Columbia Men's Coolhead Ball Cap III (Omni-Freeze ZERO) . It's engineered as a sunhat and the dense weave fabric and large floppy brim provide excellent protection, besting any bucket or ball cap. No sign of burn on my noggin even after a day in the sun. Of course, should you get caught in a tropical downpour, the mesh ventilation windows leak, so not a rain hat. The adjustable chin strap keeps it from blowing away in trade winds but the brim is too large and floppy for heavy wind or ocean boat trips. I'm a photographer and the Booney's brim, although large, easily flexes out of the way when I shoot verticals with a DSLR. It fact, the Booney makes a fine lens shade! Alas, the brim is too floppy to stay if folded up--Australian explorer look--and lacks a snap to lock it in place. Hat size is adjustable via drawstring. At default the hat is too large for my size 7.25 bean. A slight tug of the drawstring and the clip locks on my hat size and stays put. Simple but effective. Construction quality is excellent: not a loose thread, nylon fabric is of good quality and it feels and looks durable. It does rock the safari look something fierce, so it that isn't your thing, check out Columbia's buckets or ball caps. However, I dig it and pair it with a Columbia Omni-Shade shirt most of the time. This fair weather sun hat is wonderful for protecting my noggin and upper face during hiking, beach and gardening. I like it so much I bought three of them—camo, gray and khaki—so there’s always one at ready!

Great travel hat, flexible enough to fold and pop to wear.
Light weight which is perfect for summer. It has an adjustable feature to make small or larger size. Ventilation seems to be good as well as the width of the brim all around the hat. I bought it for sun protection especially on the back of my neck. Will update once we get into June on how well it keeps you cool.

Nice lightweight hat
This is the second sun hat I have purchased. I bought his full price, not as a reviewer. It is a lightweight hat with a floppy brim. I read some of the review of this product before buying it, and a few commented on being unhappy with the brim due to it being without structure. So I am noting here it is a floppy brim hat--like a fishing hat. It comes in a poly bag, which is no frills, but also keeps the cost down. So no problem there. Pros: Lightweight Cool Good ventilation for the head Would be great for travel--backpacking, or anything where you wanted a hat and you would have to pack it. It does get a little crinkly, and if that bothers you, you could iron it on the lowest setting. They do not tell you to do that,so it would be at your own risk. But I did it and it worked fine with a cool iron. The size is adjustable, which is nice, as you can never really get an exact fit for your head unless you go get an expensive hat--so this is a good solution. Seems well made, good materials and well put together. Not a chintzy product. Cons None really--provided you know what you are buying. It is a lightweight sun hat with a floppy brim. I am glad I got it and would do so again.

Great sun hat
If the brim was marginally more rigid, this would be an easy 5-star review. It's a little floppy for my tastes, but I wear an Akubra a lot of the time. That said, it's my definite go-to for hiking, fishing, and walking the dogs. Worth every cent.

Calidad y comodidad
