Great for HEMA Longsword fencers
I got myself a pair of these after trying several other protectors for Longsword Fencing. We spar and compete with blunt steel longswords at full speed and strength, so protection is required and paramount to success. I had been recommended other solutions, like padded pants and separate cup, but these just checked all the boxes, so I decided to give them a try.I'm happy to report they are extremely comfortable. I'm 5'6", 160lbs, and got a medium to fit over my boxer/briefs. They fit like a glove and stayed in place for a full hour of sparring. At one point I took a shot to the hips, which I definitely felt, but it was directly on top of the pad, so I had no bruising whatsoever. Usually a shot like that would leave a good bruise, but with these shorts it wasn't even sore. Definitely worth it to add to your tournament and sparring kit, I'll probably get a second pair soon.

Great support without crushing. I am so glad I found these.
I wear these shorts (without the included cup) for mountain and trials bicycle riding. The support is unlike any other I own, in a good way. The 'support' portion is ergonomically correct and provides great support without crushing. The padding portion is an outer layer that is not tight but also not sloppy. To summarize: Perfect support and padding that moves with me but is not constricting in any way. I found myself wearing these more than I thought I would so I ordered another pair so I would have clean shorts without washing them every week.I only include the photo because I am wearing the shorts under another more modest pair. But as you can see the, or not, they fit and draw no attention to themselves. Shock Doctor Shockskin Lax Relaxed Fit Impact Short (Black, Men's Medium)

Quality exceeds price
Using for baseball 14 yr old sliding and catcher. Admit I didn't like the jump in price from competitive brands so I went thru most competitive brands with 14 yr old son. This one worked across board, the others had failures. Well padded yet no limit on mobility, especially like tailbone protection and front thigh protection for catcher. Competitors either limited mobility or the padding was too thin for sliding or thrown ball protection as catcher. These shock doctor pants hold cup in place in right spot, competitors moves around sometimes hindering play not sure all kids want to address this issue with parents and suffer thru. Do a favor get them quality, ShockDoctor is quality.

The Batman Starter Kit
I feel like I am Batman when I put these things on. I got these for motorcycle riding because my goodies sometimes get smashed or my legs get sore.Problem solved ;)I've NEVER worn a cup before this. These shorts may have spoiled me, but I don't see what the fuss is about cups. This is not uncomfortable AT ALL. Yes, you kind of have to squeeze your guy stuff in there, but once it's in it's protective Batman pouch, it will be safe from the world.*THESE SHORTS HAVE PADDING FOR YOUR TAILBONE! This is important, because the pictures don't convey that very well!Everyone needs to C.Y.A.Now you can. And look like Batman.

but debilitating if they occur without safety equipment) and have recommended them to a number of my fellow fighters
I wear these while participating in medieval combat reenactment (groin shots are rare, but debilitating if they occur without safety equipment) and have recommended them to a number of my fellow fighters. The cup has a considerable amount of flex to it, and does allow some force to be transferred. However, even on a few direct hits from what is effectively a small club I had no lasting pain. The shorts (and cup) are quite comfortable to wear and require very little adjustment, if any, once set in place.

Awesome!
I have been trying to get my boys, now 11 and 13, to consistently wear their cups for various sports for years now. They do wear one most of the time, but try avoid it whenever possible because no cup or strap or undergarment has ever been comfortable to wear. They are also pretty "macho" and don't want to be seen in anything "overly protective." I saw these on a lacrosse gear website for almost $80 each and just couldn't stomach the cost x2. But when I saw them on amazon for less the day after the boys came home from practice with their thighs covered in deep bruises, well, I thought we'd better try them -- thinking these would give us the advantage of the cup plus a little protection from attacks. They are both pretty picky about clothing and I was stunned when I asked them to try them on and they didn't want to take them off! They both said these are the most comfortable undergarments ever (they've worn various gear for baseball, football, soccer, and wrestling as well.) They also said they can't even feel the cup and there is none of the constant fidgeting and adjusting -- they are just easy to wear. And I know it didn't hurt that they thought they looked pretty cool too. Then both boys came home from a couple hours practice in 80 degrees last night and still said they were the best! And I saw no new bruises either :-)Just a word about the fit: these are fitted, but not compression tight around the hip and waist, while the thigh hangs, but not too loose, down to an inch or two above the knee. They really are perfectly designed for lacrosse or maybe hockey. (I saw online that Shock does make this in different fits that might work better for other sports.) My 11 year old is 5 ft. tall, 110 lbs., very muscular and wearing the size Large. My 13 year old is 4'8" tall, 90 lbs, trim muscular and wearing the size Medium. (If I was more worried about them wearing these in the fall than I was whether they fit well now, I probably could have gone up a size for each. But given the fact that lax is now and over the summer, as we switch to football in the fall, I figured they'd be better off with something that fits well now. )

Good for bmx
I got this because I'm starting doing bmx again at age 30 and haven't done it in 15 years. I'm all ways landing on my right hip and this does help some does reduce the pain and bruising, it's a perfect fit under my Jean's and it doesn't restrict leg movement at all.

Not just for athletes.
I have Parkinson’s disease and have fallen often.. when I fall my hip hits the ground. It is only a matter of time before I hurt myself. Having these shorts gives me confidence to stay active. I like to go biking, attend yoga class and work in my garden.I love these shorts over other products for two reasons: 1. I live in a tropical climate and these shorts are cooler than any of the others that I have tried. 2.,they are slim and i can wear under other clothes. The other products that I have tried are thick and looks like I’m wearing a diaper.I bought my 81 year old father a size large. They were too small for him. I had to exchange them for an XXL. He prefers the Bartons as they are easier for him to go to the bathroom. He does not need the can so would be easy to modifySize medium fts me well. Im 5 ft 9: inches tall and weigh about 150 lbs.In metric system, Im 175 cm tall and weigh about 68 kgIve already tested my shorts in anger ive fallen hard twice on a hard surface. Once on my hip and once on my tailbone. They did the job and I was not hurt.It wiuld be good if there was an option to purchase without the can.

Excellent product
Excellent product. I'm not a spring chicken anymore at 51y but am still very active playing soccer. I have found getting knocked around and falling to the ground to be more painful and difficult to recover from over the past few years. This hip and jock protector is very light and comfortable to wear. I haven't liked wearing jock guards in the past because they were all very uncomfortable and made it difficult to run but this one was almost invisible to feel. I would highly recommend this light weight protector which I wear under my track pants. Make sure you get the right size - I am a 39waist and bought the XL men's which fits perfectly.

Guys trust me here. I am an XL in products made by Under Armour and Bauer but for this product I required an XXL. Hey Shocker Doctor, you really need to take a look on how you go about your sizes as you are really off the mark here.As for the product, it look exactly what I want....will just have to wait for it to be resent to me

they fit well and wash well.
I bought these shorts after having the most terrible skateboard accident of my life. I did some research and found the Shock Doctor to be a best brand to choose from in terms of protection. They fit excellent. When I go skateboarding it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing them. It washes well. however I believe it's recommended to hang dry them. they breathe well and are great.

Awesome shorts for lacrosse
Awesome shorts for lacrosse! Highly recommended. I wasn't initially sure whether or not to go for the youth large or x-large for my son (he has a 25 inch waist) and decided to go with the large. They fit great but aren't super loose on him. I'm pretty sure that we could have gotten away with the x-large as well and they would have been a little looser on him. Regardless, we really like the semi-compression fit and I'll definitely try to pick up a larger size for next season.
