Works great when used properly.
Very pretty and very well made, at a great price. I make a pot of tea using loose-leaf tea and then pour the prepared tea through this strainer into a cup. It works perfectly! It doesn't work to put the loose tea into the strainer itself then pour hot water through it to steep. It isn't deep enough. It is my guess that it wasn't made to be used in that manner. Whenever I see strainers, such as this one, in British tv shows and movies, it is always used as a strainer with a pot of loose-leaf prepared tea. I love my strainer!

These are very useful
They handled were a bit rough on the edges when I got it but cleaning it with a scrubby sponge removed the edges in no time. They werenโt sharp like other reviews claimed. It works really well for filtering tea and catches even small bits of tea like lavender flowers. Iโm happy with my purchase and love the Star pattern on it.

Beautiful!
I love going out for high tea with some friends and wanted to bring the experience home. This tea strainer allows me to dump loose-leaf tea into a teapot without worrying about it leaking into my teacup. This strainer is nicer than many strainers restaurants use. It is not flimsy, whatsoever.

Does its job
The idea behind this kind of tea strainer is that you use it in conjunction with a tea pot. You put the tea leaves in the pot to steep. After the tea sis ready, set the strainer on top of your mug and pour the tea through it. Ideally, the strainer catches any tea leaves which try to escape from the pot into your cup. Used in this manner, the strainer does its job just fine. I deducted one star because I had to pour the tea a little more slowly and carefully than is my habit. Pouring full speed tended to cause a little bit of backsplash. Otherwise, though, it worked as I'd hoped. It fits all my mugs and cups except for some demitasse cups I wouldn't normally use for tea anyhow. I wouldn't recommend putting tea directly into the strainer and pouring hot water through, like you would with a coffee filter. It might work if you poured VERY slowly and VERY carefully. However, it's not really designed to be used that way. There are better tools for brewing individual cups of tea.

Really a cute little strainer!~
For anyone to say this is anything less than a five star makes me question their review. This little device is not only weighty, it does not have rough edges, it works straining the tea leaves and it fits over a cup handsomely PLUS it was so darn inexpensive it garners a FiVE Star. My handles are fine they are not sharp anywhere, nothing wrong with this at all. I am going to get a few more just to make sure I have some to give~! I know my visitors to my home are going to wonder where I got this item. Oh and it says Made in Japan on the back!

Great fit!
This tea strainer works so well for any size of cup, which is perfect for my bigger mugs. The drip is slow and satisfying because I know I am getting the most out of my tea leaves when I pour the boiling water. Definitely great for single use.

Hardworking and decent.
This tea strainer is pretty and does the job adequately. It is a little too shallow for me, as the tea tends to splash out when it's poured a touch too fast, making a lovely little mess. It is very easy to clean as opposed to the mesh strainers that the tea leaves all get stuck in and are a pain to get out. It does let through some of the smaller tea leaves and can get very hot if the tea is very hot being poured through it. All in all a decent purchase.

Tea Strainer
Exactly as described. Even nicer then I thought it would be. Works great. Fits over the tea cups perfectly and you don't need to hold it. Best investment I ever made. So worth it. Very fast shipping. Very happy

Nice tea strainer, but missing an important part
It's my own fault for not looking carefully enough, or just assuming, but the fact that this tea strainer does not come with a little cup to put it in after straining tea leaves is, to my mind, unforgivable. What are you supposed to do with it when it is dripping tea? Do you actually need a separate side plate for just that?
