CHEAP?
Ok..been playing bass for almost 20 years, I'm not rich and although I'd love to buy a Gibson or a Fender I always have responsabilities that prevent me from buying one of those gems. That pushed me to researh and try virtually tons of "cheap" bass guitar during those 20 years and I'll be honest, several times I had to low my head and work with what I had in hand regardless of the low standards and poor quality of any given instrument. EPIPHONE changed that. I own, like thousands out there the Epi Thunderbird and it was a great surprise to play that bass, the quality, the tone and above all, the relaibility of the axe, at that moment I became an Epiphone Fan. Now, I just recently bought the Epiphone EB-3 for a second weapon in the arsenal and man...those out there that insist on saying that this is a "cheap" chinesse or asian made instrument need to stop and try this axe. Epiphone has increased the bar on this "easy access" instrument to a point that there is nothing to envy (quality wise) from their more expensive cousins. I'm not trying to deny the fact that the quality of a Gibson or a Fender it's by far better, I'll be a moron in denial indeed. But I'll tell you, I pound my Epi bass every week on gigs and rehersals and it's awesome on every count. Looks great, feels great, plays great and it doesnt hurt my pocket. This is in fact a great buy OK...I've read from some guys about the "MUD" tone of this bass and things like "it won't cut thru the mix"...well I don't know what kind of amplification, eq, effects are they using...like MILLIONS out there I beef up my tone with some beautiful stomp gems out there. Please take a listen to the EB-3 over some drum loops on my pc (ok it's not a band recording and it's not live..this is just to show you the INFINITE possibilities while recording or even on live settings...I constantly annoy the guys on my band...."hey...dude...turn that bass down would ya' I want to listen to my drums!!!!" Here is a little nothing I recorded with the Epi EB3 [...] EPIPHONE EB3 ROCKS!!!!

Great for price, but there are better options out there
Great sounds, for what I would consider a lower end bass. It arrived basically set-up and only needed a tuning. The finish is good. The strings that come with it are okay-ish, but you'll eventually be replacing them anyways. I knocked a star off because the instrument doesn't balance correctly if you play standing up with a strap, it's neck heavy. You can easily fix this by weighting the opposite end or shortening the neck, but for something new do you really want to put that work in? And extra weight is a bad idea, ita heavy enough and you dont want back pain. The other option is to just get used to it. Lastly, I would prefer an instrument with inline tuning but this is alright and its a gibson replica that comes close to the real thing.

Fantastic bass guitar for the dollar!
I'm new to the bass (started about a year ago) and decided it was time to upgrade from the bass I started with (an entry level guitar from a starter package). I'm really glad I finally decided to go with this great Epiphone bass guitar! The instrument was wonderfully set up from the manufacturer - needed only minor adjustment to the string action for my preference. The hardware and finish are beautiful, practically flawless, and the performance, feel, and playability are far and away superior to my old starter bass. This bass was maybe twice as expensive as my previous bass, but is at least five times the instrument. Great quality for the money!

I know they CAN be great
They honestly LOOK AMAZING! I tried two separate basses. The first had the left bridge poll pop out as I was tuning it. The second had incredible string buzz, and generally needed a professional setup. I bought these basses trying to replace a squire J that I got really lucky with in retrospect. If I'm going to spend an extra 100 bucks or more just to play it, before new strings or anything I'd rather buy a better bass. I can say they are great when they work. Deep, rumbly... Fairly versital. I just got 2 lemons and am moving in another, funkier direction.

My epiphany eb3 electric bass
Wanted one for a very long time. Waiting for it to arrive only made it all the more special. Playing this thing is awesome. It far outdid my expectations.

Bass guitar was not playable out of the box
This bass needed a trussrod adjustment just to make it playable. Most beginners will not understand what is wrong and end up paying a lot to correct the setup. A few weeks after I corrected the setup the treble side bridge insert started pulling up out of the guitar so I had to take it apart and reset it using a small amount of wood glue to hopefully correct the issue, jury still out on that one. This is a 450.00 guitar with the quality of a 150.00 guitar. It is however very pretty to look at so as long as you don't want to play it go ahead and buy one.
