NPR Driveway Moments for Dads: Radio Stories That Won't Let You Go Audio CD – Unabridged, April 27, 2007

I bought this as a Father's Day present for my husband (for his first Father's Day as a father). We listened t it together, and we both thought it was pretty good, but no where near as great as an episode of This American Life or anything along those lines. Although some of the stories are very charming-- and a couple are touching, well-told tear-jerkers-- there are also a few stories and anecdotes that are mediocre at best. I think this collection is definitely worth listening to, especially for the few really beautiful stories, but if I had it to do over again I would have maybe given this to my husband as a just-because-present instead of making it a Father's Day present.Just to reiterate, we liked this collection and I don't regret my purchase whatsoever, but I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 b/c the stories are so varied in quality.

I bought this for my fiance for Christmas and we both love it. He likes listening to the stories because they remind him of his father and he can relate because he is a father as well. I like listening to the stories because they're all very sweet and each one is unique. I wasn't an NPR listener before, but I think I might start listening after purchasing this CD set. The only problem is that we went through the stories so fast and were done with the 2 discs after only a few days! They will be nice to keep in the car for long rides and the set is a great memento for dads. I highly recommend!

I love NPR, specifically I love "This American Life" - so I guess I went in with the expectation that this would be more like that show ... I'm not really sure why, so that's my fault. Overall it's good, that stories are somewhat compelling ... I apologize, I feel a little wishy-washy on this one so I don't expect many "helpful" votes on this review. :)

My wife gave this to me for fathers day and I have to say it's at the top of the list in terms of thoughtfulness and value.I drive more than 500 miles a week, so you can imagine how important in-car entertainment is for me. But it's not just about having something to listen to, it's about the emotion that goes into these stories. I've already recited a number of them to friends, which is really the way I evaluate my engagement.Great job to NPR, wonderful compilation!

I purchased this for my husband to listen to on the way to work and he liked it very much. If you're a fan of NPR and like this type of thing, it's a no brainer.

The stories are good, but I wasn't expecting stories about Dads. I assumed it would be a collection of NPR radio stories that Dads would enjoy, not stories about peoples fathers. It was entertaining, just wasn't what I was expecting.

Some of the stories are definitely interesting and fun to listen to, but once you've heard them all there's little desire to listen to them again, unlike music.

We listened to this on a long car ride with our children. We laughed and cried, stopped the cd often to talk about it with the kids, getting their take, or explaining certain things. It is a wonderful tribute, and I am going to get it for my 86 year old father as well.
