Approx 1/3 of the way through and it is a well written intro to using maps. Because it is a small size book, it does mean the pictures are also quite small (obviously!) which means some are a little tricky to read with my eyesight, but a magnifying glass can help there.

Absolutely brilliant wee book. I am not particularly scientific or geographical but I am now happily planning walks , using the compass , walking tobearings etc. Its simple concise and borne out of loads of experience with people who have struggled to master the art of map reading.Highly recommended....

Great to learn compass and map reading, looked at many and found this to be a good read so far and learning a good few things, from start off its a good idea to buy this book if you are new or brushing up on your compass skills

I recently had to get the compass and map out when I was out walking in the fells and it was at that point that I thought it's been a long, long time since I learnt how to do all that 'stuff' and I had to clear a bit of rust out of the old brain! I managed to remember enough to get by but decided I needed to just kinda refresh the brain cells so I bought this little pocket guide and I've really enjoyed reading it. It's surprising how much you do have locked away inside your head from days long gone (must be near 35 years since I learnt about it) and having a read of this has unlocked more and more of it!Definitely recommend it, great book and it's cheap too!!
