2012 27" iMac - Worked like a Charm!
Bottom line: This cable works perfectly on a mid-2012 27" Apple iMac and it wasn't too difficult if you have experience working inside computers.I bought one of these to go with my existing SATA cable in my Mid 2012 27" iMac and it worked great. I saw some videos and instructions about 'cutting the connector with a jeweler's saw' and so on... not needed. The cable plugged perfectly into my iMac and I now run dual SSD drives in RAID stripping and it's blazing fast.Note: There is a special cable for the iMac that adds a couple of wires - I read it somewhere and even found it... if you happen upon that SATA connector, it's about $30 but it does add some kind of temperature monitoring for the iMac. Without it, the fan for the HD defaults to "high" and sounds like a vacuum cleaner... like 5,000+RPM and you can start hearing the fan around 2,000RPM. Fortunately, there's an "app for that", and it's free... found it here: [...] and it worked perfect... I can set the speed wherever I want. The downside, you don't know if the fan is going fast enough for the temp, or if you're blowing too much air when the HDD or SDD is cool enough. Just something to consider. I never heard my fan before the upgrade, so I set mine in the mid 2,000RPM range - can hear it a little but I know the SSDs are cool.Note 2: Instructions for making an upgrade on your iMac (or MacBook/Mac Pro/etc.) can be found here: [...]Disclaimer: Apple does not recommend you do your own work... consider the Apple care warranty and your abilities before you dive into this project. As for me - I'm thrilled with the upgrade and the extremely noticeable speed gains!!

Very useful!
I have an older server that has a slimline Sata connector on the motherboard. Using this allowed all of the SAS drives to be used for storage.

The cable works - Might not work for your situation
The cable works. But it didn't work for my situation. HP DL360P Gen8, using this and a 2.5" SSD resulted in a red screen when trying to boot from the SSD. ACHI and proper boot sequence was set in the bios.

Niche use case, but when you need it you need it! Used for HP DL380e Gen8 LFF server
I used this to attach an SSD to the internal Sata header, typically used for an optical drive, on an HP DL380e Gen8 LFF server. After setting the SATA mode to AHCI on the internal SATA controller and setting that controller to #1 priority in the boot list I was able to use a 2.5" SSD as a boot drive for TrueNAS.

Perfect cable for 2nd SSD installation in iMac 27'' mid 2011.
It is an excellent cable which is not available in UK. Original Apple cable is too expensive. It fits in nicely for 2nd SSD. The quality, length and flexibility are all great. Strongly recommended. Excellent service as well. Delivered to UK in 7 day. It is incredible. Thanks.

Cables functions sufficient ...
Slimline 13pin SATA female to Slimline 22 pin SATA female cable functions as well as the 4 times more expensive original Apple-cable No. 922-9875, which is named: "iMac Alu 27" SSD Data/Power Cable (2011)".I researched the pins on both sides of the cable for the correct connectivity. I found vivid pins 2+3 (boardside) to the pins 7+8+9 (Solid State Drive side) for 5 Volts as in the original cable. The pins 5+6 on board side are connected to the pins 10+11+12 on SSDs side for ground as in the Apple cable. No other connectivity from board to SSD provides the original Apple cable. So this Slimline 13pin SATA female to Slimline 22 pin SATA female cable is recommended for an ADDITIONAL third party SSD installing in an iMac 27" from 2011.The Apple cable provides some connectivity from the SSD side to the SSD side back as a hidden loop with two more wires, as far as it is connected to original Apple SSDs with an special adapter for four more additional pins on those original Apple SSDs (or Apple providers SSDs).So it is my recommendation, not to use this Slimline 13pin SATA female to Slimline 22 pin SATA female cable with only two wires on power part for the installation of a third party SSD INSTEAD of the Harddrive.

Works great in 2011 27" iMac
Used this to install a SSD in my 2011 27" iMac. These have an extra slimline port that is normally used for SSD if you BTO your iMac. Unfortunately to do it aftermarket is almost impossible as the holes to attach the SSD pressure wall are on the back chassis of the iMac which do not exist on the non-BTO SSD iMac. So long as you leave your regular hard drive that came with the iMac in this works great and you have no fan issues. It is more than long enough to mount your drive under the ODD which is where it is mounted OEM in this model.

I gave it 4 stars ONLY because this cabled didn't fit my Mac
I had to buy the Slimline 13 pin SATA Male to 22 Pin SATA Female Cable Adapter, and not Female to Female. I have a Late 2009 iMac 27 inch. So make sure you know which cable your mac needs. I ended up buying the Male to Female to make it work. Cables are solid, well built and work if you order the right one.
