Complete Price Guide to Watches 2014 Paperback – March 18, 2014

Good book!

I have been an avid pocket watch collector for about 30 years and have many prior editions of this excellent book. It contains a wealth of information about all aspects of pocket watches - nomenclature, parts and construction, general history of pocket watches, listings of manufacturers and serial numbers and prices. While I'm not sure how accurate the prices are, this book is a "must have", especially for newer collectors. I have just ordered this latest edition and can't wait to get my hands on it!This is an update to my review: I received this book the day after my review, above. All I can say is that this latest edition is superb! It's much easier to read, its contents are presented in a much better chronological order and contains much more information. Simply put, if you have any interest in collecting watches, this book the best reference book you can find!

I'm new to watch collecting, apparently this is the popular price guide. It also includes detailed descriptions of how pocket watches work and the various types of mechanisms that evolved over the years. My only criticism is that it badly needs some editing, There are outright errors in some statements and sentences that end in the middle, but these do not detract from the usefulness of the book and there really aren't THAT many of them. This book is a must-have for any beginning collector, and I imagine for any experienced collector as well.

I have older editions of this guide. This is the most complete price guide out there. This is a good guide for the person that is thinking of getting into the watch collecting hobby. The beginning of the guide is a primer on the workings of a pocket watch and its exploded views of the internals of said pocket watch are some of the best I have seen out there. Very well written!

This is a super reference book, with every category of pocket watch & even wrist watch analyzed in great detail, with drawings & sketches to back up all the information you could ever want. Many different watchmakers are represented throughout the years. This is for the person who is seriously interested in time pieces, all 1198 pages of it, including fascinating & useful ads in the back.

Very good resource for information on pocket watches. It provides me with guidelines on how much I should pay for antique pocket watches, especially on eBay when bidding can sometimes get a little high for some items.

The watch reference for buying and selling. The prices are for retail though, so if you're buying or selling on ebay your price will be less. All in all a good reference so you at least have a baseline on what it is worth at a trade show or antique store. If you collect watches, whatever type, you need this, period!

The Bible of its Genre. Have talked to one of the author personally, very knowledgeable. Only complaint is the tiny text and poor quality of some of the black and white reproductions. Still the best book of its kind revised annually.
