Stratego Nostalgia

This game is great and just like the one my husband grew up with in the 60s-70s. I read all of the reviews about the other Stratego games not being true to their roots, which is why we decided it was worth the extra money to purchase this true vintage game. We purchased the game for our son's 25'th birthday. He had just been introduced to the game @ a friend's house and he was more than delighted to find that his 51 year old dad had grown up with this exact game. Love it.

Old school fun, great memories and nice done format.

This is the closest you'll get to the classic Stratego game of yesteryear. The game board is sturdy and authentic. The game pieces are plastic, but substantial, nicely-detailed, and well-constructed; they look just like the (wooden) pieces from the late-60s version of Stratego I played with as a kid. Even the retro-looking instruction sheet is old-school and pleasing to read. Add to all this the solidly made wooden box (a happy surprise), and you have the best version of Stratego available today. If you are looking for a quality version of this classic board game, and can find this particular set for under $40, then buy it: it blows the cheaper sets away.

One of the most interesting features of this game is the wooden box. As players set up their pieces, the box fits perfectly in the center of the board, acting as a barrier while players organize their game components. This thoughtful design not only provides a convenient space for the box but also enhances the overall experience by adding a unique and functional element to the setup at the start of the game.

It takes a bit of effort to slide the wooden lid on and off the box, but apart from that, this game brings back memories of my brother and I playing the DOS version on the PC back in the 90s. The game pieces are well made and will last a long time.

What a find! I got this set for $16! It is just like (except for the awesome wood box!) the set I played with in the 1970s. I can't believe I found this for $16. Even at $50 it is a steal. I have seen this exact set selling for over $100 and people are buying it! I suggest that anyone who loves Stratego buy this set. It is just as much fun now as when I was 8. I am 47 years old. Truly brings a smile to my face! No cheap stickers on the pieces here. These are the solid plastic ones with the dudes and bombs etc. engraved with metallic paint or something. I learned on a set that had wood pieces and woke up one Christmas morning to find this same set under the tree. I kicked myself for years having let my folks sell it at garage sale when I went into the Air Force. So truly happy and pleased to have found this set and kudos to Hasbro for remaking a classic with no corners cut!!

Product had slight "damage " and or wear on the outside of the wooden box. But that's what was expected as this was a used product and I was looking to get this classic game in this format and didn't want to spend alot more on New in this format. It stated that there would be slight wear and this was true and correct. I am VERY satisfied and happy with this product.... it is exactly as advertised and I definitely recommend.

Ordered previously owned product. It came in great condition, as described with all pieces and the manual and original wooden box.
