The Complete Waterpower Workout Book: Programs for Fitness, Injury Prevention, and Healing [Huey, Lynda, Forster, Robert] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Complete Waterpower Workout Book: Programs for Fitness, Injury Prevention, and Healing Review: recommended by my Water Aerobics Instructir & Physial Therapist - Wonderful book with lots of photos & good exercise directions. I had double knee & hip replacements and all the exercises shown in this book helped with my physi al therapy & recovery. Review: Super Book! - The Complete Waterpower Workout book is thorough and well illustrated to demonstate the exercises. You can do in the water what you cannot do on land. In water the pain is gone so you can obtain a full range of motion. I highly recommend this book and the two others this author has colaborated on...Healing your hips and Healing your knees. But, you'll only get out of it what you put into it. To be effective you have to schedule your time and be consistent using your muscles and paying attention to your body positions throughout. If you just wiggle your finger or an ear and not use the water pressure to intensify the move it won't do anything for you. If you enjoy exercising and follow the program you will reap many rewards following this therapist.

Some information may be outdates; however, overall, the book achieved its goal
Good information- The pictures are all in black and white, but I do like the different sections devoted to specialty issues, such as surgical recovery from hip and knee interventions. Some of the info may be outdated, as the copyright is 1993. Overall, it is probably the best book I have come across thus far that gives comprehensive information on water exercise for rehab as well as every day workouts. The scope of the book was a tall order, but I think they did a good job achieving their goal. If the authors plan to update the book with more recent clinical information for hip and knee replacement rehab, include color photos as well as the prospect of laminated views to use while in the pool area, those updates would make this a perfect book, worthy of 5 stars.

Great workouts for whole body.
This is a great book. I used it when I taught aqua aerobics. Needed a replacement book.

A great reference
I bought this book for my cousin who is very (very) active and who recently injured herself. I'm sure that a lot of this book is stuff that she knows, but it did seem to have some sections that deal with injuries and what you can do to continue your workouts and heal yourself. She seemed to like the present, but I'm not sure how much she'll actually use it. Perhaps it is better for someone not as advanced.

This is a wonderful book that provides comprehensive water workouts
This is a wonderful book that provides comprehensive water workouts. I appreciate that it takes physical liabilities into account. For example, there are some exercises that it recommends not doing if you have had hip replacement surgery (which I have had). The photos and instructions are very clear and easy to follow. In 30 minutes, I get a very complete workout, including upper and lower body. And of course in the water, much more stretching is possible without any strain. Very little space is needed for the workout, so you can do it in a pool with other swimmers without bothering them.

Excellent Workout Program
This is an excellent program to use when you have muscle pain our injuries. I was having significant muscle pain and could not use the treadmill or elliptical. I found I could continue to do a full exercise program with limited discomfort and pain after the exercises. The exercises and workout approach has definitely aided in strengthening my muscles. The author does an excellent job of describing their approach and workout techniques. They also provide workouts and exercises for specific injuries. Pictures are provided for each exercise and an explanation about how to perform the exercise.

Excellent Book
The best parts of this book are the detailed photographs of all the exercises, included in both a large format (one per page) and a small format (so that you can see many exercises per page). The only thing that would make the book even better would be if the small photographs were offered separately on water-resistant material, so that you could bring 'em into the pool. I'll probably photocopy those pages, and laminate them, so that I can do that. The book has a helpful appendix of commercial resources with products such as an in-pool exercise station, and Aqua Tunes. Some of the companies appear to have gone out of business in the 11 years since the book was first published--to be expected. By the way, the average rating here would be 5, but one reviewer apparently forgot to add the star rating, while still offering the book a glowing review.

This book has programmes both for fitness, injury prevention and water healing-rehabilitation For each exercise there is a description, a photo and a mention of which muscles are used and will therefore benefit from the exercise. This is a plus for anyone who intends using poolwork for rehabilitation after an injury or after an operation. Exercises are for both lower and upper body. Definitely helped with my rehab after an ACL repair and needed to do some non- weight bearing exercises due to other problems. Heal your knees by Robert Klapper and Lynda Huey is another book to consider if you need knee surgery.

Excellent book, with detailed explanation on how to do the exercises. A comprehensive section on injury rehabilitation, which is the reason I bought it in the first place. I lent it to my water physio instructor, who loved it too and selected a few exercises for her own class. I use the book in between the water physio classes, and it has made a noticeable difference in my condition and also in my overall fitness level
