Works great & does NOT smell
Okay - I've had this product for about a month now, and I must say I love it. I'm not sure why so many people say it has a toxic odor to it. The first thing I did when I took it from the box was smell it! I was sooo worried that it would stink so bad like everyone had said and that my dog might risk fainting in the back seat from the stench, but no ... it had a slight 'new' smell to it, but that was about it. It surely wasn't a horrid smell that would make me want to return it, and the smell is gone now. Another reviewer said it best by comparing it to a new backpack smell. Don't let the negative reviews about the smell steer you from this product, as it really works like it says. I also saw some reviews about people complaining that it couldn't hold the weight from their larger breed dogs, which leads me to believe that they didn't allow enough 'slack' and may have stretched the hammock too much, causing the straps (which are pretty durable) to break. The hammock isn't meant to hold/suspend dogs, it's meant to lay on your back seat and provide a cover, so just want to make sure that's clarified. I have a small 2 door coupe, and it fit perfectly in my car. It was very easy to put in (took less than 5 mins), and is very easy to manuever so that I can put one side of the hammock down to allow my dog to get in the back of the car (since there aren't any back doors). She hops right in, and I can easily put the hooks back up so that the hammock captures all the hair from falling/flying on the backs of my seats/floors. Another thing I like about it is the fact that you can use it as both a hammock, and as a regular bucket seat cover. I don't see why anyone would spend their money on the bucket seat type, when this basically serves both purposes AND comes with pockets. It's made of a very durable material, that prevents mud and dirt from seaping through and getting on your seats. It also prevents my dog from jumping up in the front seat which is a nice safety feature. Not a bad price either, beats changing out towels/blankets week after week when this one looks much nicer. Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who loves to take their dog out and about with them, but hates to have a 'hair storm' while they drive. **Updated April 2013: Still using this product. Hasn't torn, still durable and still does the job.

Fit Chrysler 300 perfect
Fit the back of my Chrysler 300 perfect when we locked the hook into the frame on the floor. Light waterproof material, good color. Abby hasn't ridden on it yet so will update my review once she does. 3-30-15: Update. Abby rode on it this weekend and did fine. She has been using a fluffy blanket so she didn't like it as much but I love the fact that it covers the back and is waterproof. I'm leaving the review at 4 stars because she did a little slipping around but for the price you can't beat it. I would buy again. 6-26-15: Update. Have used this every week since we received it and it's still working great. Love the thick protection for my seat. 8-24-15: Update. Whoever said that this didn't hold up must have a very, very large dog. My Abby is 40lbs, puppy and doesn't sit very still when riding and it's still going strong. I would definitely buy again. 4/7/16: Update. I've been using this every Saturday for over a year and I leave it in my car full time, unless I have humans riding in the backseat.. My Abby is now nearly 47# and there isn't a single tear. She jumps straight in and it still looks like brand new. When this one finally bites the dust I am definitely buying another. Moved my stars up to 5 8/16/16: Update. Still love it. I am so glad I bought this one. I know I'm only using it once a week but I leave it in my hot car all the time. Holding up perfect. 4/4/17 - Finally buying a new one. Why? Husband took off of seat and ripped hook off. Still in good shape but not holding down very well. I never washed in the machine. Just hosed it down. Great product and that's why I'm buying again. PS.. don't know who wrote the description but this cover is tan NOT grey. 4-9-17 Even better than the last one! Perfect

Good, but not great.
This seems to fit well and protect the leather seats in my 2013 Camry SE from scratches and other damage from my golden retriever, but that's really about it. I bought this because in my last car my dog poked holes in the leather with her fingernails (the seats were older and the leather was worn anyways, so it was brittle to begin with). When I upgraded to a new car, I wanted a solution that would protect the seats from similar damage. This covers the leather and stays in place thanks to four straps that you wrap around your headrests and two anchors that you push into the cracks of your backseats. In order for it to work, you MUST have headrests on both your front and back seats, and your back seat bench needs a fairly deep crack between the back and the bottom. It also has two small pockets, which are just the right size for a leash or a collapsible water bowl. This covers the seats well, but it can be difficult to adjust well. I still haven't been able to quite get it right. The straps are adjustable, but the distance between the straps on each edge are too small and it causes it to be loose between the two front seats. My dog tries to use this loose part to slip into the front seat. This loose part gets even worse when your front seats aren't lined up perfectly well with each other, and your dog may try to jump onto your console if she gets the chance. This brings me to another major problem: my dog absolutely HATES this thing. I think it doesn't feel stable to her, especially since she can't tell where the seats drop off and it hangs out over the air. She's somehow managed to escape it a couple times and end up on the floorboard beneath it. She accomplishes this by crawling between the edge of the seat cover and the rear car door. If you have a smaller car or a bigger dog, this might be impossible for your dog. For my mid-size car and mid-size dog, the gap there is just too big to prevent her escape. One other problem is that it's designed for you to be able to still access and use the rear seat belts. This is a good idea, especially if you plan to pair it with a car harness for your dog. Unfortunately, it does so by having two holes in the seat cover, right where the back and bottom of your seat meet. In my car, it doesn't actually line up very well with the seat belts, so it wrinkles and folds if you try. Moreover, it lets hair through to the seats; you may not notice this, but I've got a black interior and a blonde dog, and it makes me more than a little concerned that it would let water through as well. I wouldn't trust this thing with a dripping-wet or muddy dog, though I wouldn't worry if your dog is just damp. Overall, I think this is a good product. It accomplishes what I needed it for, but it'll take some getting used to for both you and your dog and it's not always easy to work with. I'd recommend it for smaller cars and people who will pair it with car harnesses or pet barriers.

Does the job as expected
I use this in two cars. I have a 4-door Mazda 6 and my girlfriend's got a 4-door Chevy Cavalier. Luckily I bought this promptly after adopting a rescue dog because turns out she wasn't too used to being in a car and threw up. This seat cover worked great. It kept the mess off the seats and was easily cleaned. The fit of the seat cover, surprisingly, fits better in my car than my girlfriends but I think this is because I have rear headrests and she doesn't. To secure it in her car we tilt the seat forward (such as to gain trunk access) and put the straps behind the corner of the seat then set it back in place. The seat cover has a lot of versatility. It adapts well and easily between my car and my girlfriend's and covers the whole seat. We've been using it for 5 months now and it has doubled as a barrier keeping the hair off of the seats too (a plus when you want to take the cover out and not have to vacuum before having passengers). It also keeps dirty paws from getting on the interior, and to clean it just take it out and shake and you're good to go (unless there was throw up, then a washing machine comes in handy). Generally with my reviews, I apply a Zagat-style rating to it. That is, what were my expectations and how much did the product meet them. In light of this, I give it 5 stars because it met my expectations spot on and I am considering purchasing a second. I recommend this for a car-sick prone dog (or cat?) or any dog that may shed a lot, but also it's great for keeping the dirt from their paws from getting on the interior.

Very Satisfied
I bought this seat cover back in February right after we got our new (new to us) Subaru. We have two very active and hairy dogs that destroyed our back seat in our old Grand Am. So i wanted something durable and waterproof to protect our immaculate seats in our new car. I looked at a number of similar products before settling on this one. I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews. Things such as the durability of the seat straps, as well as the smell that others were claiming. But after all my browsing i did settle on this product. The reason for waiting so long to write the review is that i wanted to fully test this item out before i reviewed it. Thus far i am extremely happy with the performance of this seat cover. Both my dogs weigh in at just over 40 lbs each and the strap durability has not been an issue at all. My dogs tend to rest their heads on the little "hammock" the cover naturally forms between the front two seats, and never have the straps failed or frayed. I have not noticed any oder what so ever while using this product. be it in cold weather or warm weather, heat can bring out smells. The waterproofness of the cover is more than satisfactory. my dogs are both long haired aussies and can accumulate plenty of liquids while on our ski journeys and playing in the river. Not a drip of water has touched my seats. In all i am completely satisfied with this purchase. A few notes regarding fit and such. The width and length are perfect for a subaru outback. The straps fit around front and rear headrests. They don't hold the entire length of both ends absolutely taunt, so you get a little sag at the upper corners, and hence a little seat exposure, but nothing bad at all. Also, i don't use seat belts with my dogs, so the holes that the seat belts come through allowed dirt onto the seat. i remedied this by placing a beach towel the lent of the seat under these holes. The seatbelt holes are mentioned in product description, so just be aware of their placement.

Took 2nd place
Short version: I purchased this and the kurgo to compare both and find one thats fits best in my car. If you have a large raised bench seat as found in trucks and suv's then i would recommend this cover, it should fit fine and quality between the two covers are comparable. If you have a sedan, especially with a folding rear seat, then the kurgo would suit you better. See my kurgo bench seat cover review if you have a sedan and folding rear seat. ***See install tips at bottom if nothing else*** First and foremost, the product design has changed from what is pictured and reviewed by others. What is pictured is headrest straps at the top with clips that attach through metal grommets, what I received was fixed straps sewn to the top. They are adjustable, but there is no buckle to disconnect. This mattered to me because every time you remove the cover you will have to loosen the headrest straps (or remove headrests) and then readjust when you install which will take more time. The kurgo took longer to install because I had to make more adjustments, but everything has buckles so your settings are "saved". See my review on the kurgo for all the details. The only part that had the grommets and clips still was the lower straps, but these are useless for me since my seat is mounted to the floor and not raised, and only the raised seats can use these. It has the rear PVC seat inserts that hold the seat cover back against the seat, but there was still enough slack with the PVC inserts pushed all the way between the seats that the cover could be slid forward about 4 inches. The only other straps are the two front corner bungee straps that aren't adjustable and aren't enough to keep it from sliding laterally. This is why my recommendation is for raised bench seats in SUV and trucks. These seats can utilize the side straps and would provide a more secure fit. Additionally there is no side or front protection intended, for my sedan seat the cover was too wide, but not wide enough to tuck down the sides so it just stuck out awkwardly and was apparent it didn't fit. If you have a wider seat it should sit on top well without overhang or hopefully being too narrow. One last note between this and the kurgo dealing with the seatbelt slits. The kurgo has Velcro flaps that cover it up while not in use and should prevent hair from going between the cover and seat. The solvit has just the slits. Additionally with how the covers fit my seat, the kurgo slits sit higher up on the back of the seat about 2 inches. The solvit slits sit dead in the center of where the bottom and back meet, which means if there is an accident, any liquid is going to run to the back of the seats and go right through the slits. Even worse is that it will go through right where the seatbelt holes are in the seat, good luck getting that area dry as anyone knows who has lost change or anything else into those terrible voids. My suggestion to both companies is if you are going to make a "waterproof cover" but have large holes where liquid is just going to run right through, then use waterproof zippers and flaps so they can be closed when not in use and prevent the waterproof cover becoming useless when liquid just goes right through. ***Install Tips*** Some suggestions for install and ensured long life. I would not recommend machine washing these. The instructions for the kurgo say front loader only, no agitator post machines. Both of these covers are laminated plastic on the back of the material which provides the waterproofing. Some reviewers complained about the material cracking and coming off after washing. These covers are no doubt kept in your car during extreme hot and cold temps which I'm sure will eventually shrink and expand the laminate enough to crack it, machine washing it by cramming it in any washer and wrinkling it will only expedite this process. The best option if an accident happens it to use some mild cleaner, hose it off, and hang dry. Second, during install the straps that go around the headrest, reviewers complained about these sewn straps tearing away from the cover. During my first install I immediately realized why and how to avoid this. When you install you are most likely just reaching in your car and then you tighten these headrest straps down. With no weight on the seat they are fine, but when someone sits down or a dog jumps in, these are pulled down tighter by their weight and will no doubt tear in short order. What I recommend most is that you do not tighten these down until the end. When ready, sit in the seat, reach back and tighten just snug while your weight is pulling it down. Then move to the other side and do the same. This makes for a looser looking fit, but will prevent any tearing since only the weight of the cover is put on the sewn straps and someone or some pet is not putting additional force on these seams.

NO smell here and very nice indeed!
Just to set the record straight, there is no horrible smell on the one we got. It did have a faint vinyl type of smell, but that disappeared in a day or so. I'm not sure what the problem is with the other reviews, but I didn't have that issue. Personally, I love ours! We had a cover that just covered the seat, but my husband packed it up somewhere when he went out of town on business, and we've never seen it again. I was thrilled to death though when I saw the prices here (my original one was much more expensive) for various covers as a replacement. When we bought the other one (ages ago), it was because we had a HUGE shedding dog that loved riding in cars; may God rest his sweet soul. I liked that my tiny broom and dustpan , that I keep in the my vehicle, would quickly and easily sweep up the fur. Now our other dog, is a polar opposite. She is a medium size average shedding dog, who hated to ride in the car. I don't know what it was, but laying down for her was just not an option. She would only sit and constantly lose her balance looking miserable. So this one was the perfect answer for us. I felt that I would no longer worry that she'll slide right off that seat. To my delight, she loved the cover and evidently feels much more secure. Now she wants to go on car rides AND she even lays down! Go figure. I should have bought this ages ago! This is still a good surface to just sweep out too. I wish my house and car were that easy to clean. I have a SUV and I have it across the back seat. If another person will be sitting there, I fold the passenger side of the cover BACK UNDER the dog side of cover. The slots (for seat belts) match up that way and so it can still be used. All in all, I'm very pleased and have absolutely NO complaints. I expect this to last a long time.

Great product - Super Easy Installation
I really like this product. My wife recently traded in her Jeep for a new car with leather seats. The only downside to this is that we have a 78 pound dog that needs to go to the vet every couple of weeks. I saw this product in an Amazon e mail flyer and decided to get it. The price was right, I thought, and it was better than a sheet or blanket. Well, what a Great Product! It is made of a very sturdy canvas, looks good and takes literally about 10 seconds to install - all you do is place the built in loops over the 4 headrests of the seats. There are 2 large pockets built in for whatever, and there are even reinforced slots built in to allow for the use of seat belts. Both of our dogs like this product very much and it offers perfect dog claw protection for the leather seats. Keeps dog hair off of them too! Aside from being protection from dog claws, we've also found the Hammock Seat Cover for Pets to be very useful for trips to places like Costco or the garden store.. The hammock offer super protection from all of the loose, un-bagged products and the floor space under the hammock makes a very useful location to keep items out of the sun or away from prying eyes. The hammock's waterproof properties also protects your seats from pet or product "accidents". Delivery was VERY fast and the product comes well packaged with instructions. I can Highly Recommend Solvit and their Waterproof Hammock Seat Cover For Pets!

Very happy with this purchase
Very happy with this purchase. Bought it around 2014 for my Kia Sorento and keeps everything very well protected. It was a perfect fit for my car which has a rather large trunk. Great grip, strong velcro, does not move around, stays in place.

No seams
When my old seamless hammock wore out, I got 2 of the kind with seams for myself and my niece. Our dogs went through the seams within days. They weren’t digging at it or anything. Just bigger dogs jumping in the vehicle and the seams gave. This is still in perfect condition after well over a year with an energetic german shepherd.

SUPER BUENA!
