Wonderful shoe, would be nice to have a little more room for toes though
I got this on a lightning deal and I'm very happy with my purchase. The inside isn't hard, it's got a little bit of softness around the edges. That being said, it's got some support and I'm very happy with my purchase so far. We'll see how long this shoe lasts as my last pair were worn for almost 6 years. I like the material, but I live in a cold climate so the bottom tread (or lack of) might be a little more challenging sometimes. We just had our first snow-storm of the season and they worked fine for keeping my toes warmer than most of my other shoes have previously done in sub-zero temps with 25+MPH winds. If you want a good quality shoe that's comfortable to wear for light work or general walking, these are recommended. :)UPDATE 1/15/14:These shoes are holding up quite well and are far more comfy than I expected. The sore feet/knees/shins I would usually have from long periods of standing, just aren't all that bad at the 2 month mark. I've used them in the -30 weather we recently had while clearing snow and they provide a decent amount of grip on slick surfaces, but may still let loose as they're not really meant for that. They still look new (I bought the grey) which was nice as I expected the sides and toe to be getting discolored as I haven't exactly been trying to keep them from getting wet/dirty. Easy to wipe clean (just don't let wet items dry into fabric). Would almost be considered the best pair of shoes I've owned (time will tell depending on how long they last).

I think they will be A-OK after "break-in" period
Just received the NB MX623 X-training -- got the grey suede, Will need to "break them in" as they are both a little snug -- usually NB size D's fit me well. Also, I am getting an irritation on the top of my big toe which seems to be related to the seam on the topside. I was not able to put them on and then go for a long walk due to the irritation -- just using them around the house left a red irritation mark at the joint on top of my big toe. However, I think if I break them in they will do fine as I have always had good luck with NB. [Totally unrelated to my new NB shores, I happened to be at COSCO where they had a supply of their house brand "athletic" shoes -- which only come in an unlisted standard width -- bought them. Put these on an they were amazingly comfortable and indeed I did take a long walk in these without any break-in at all. I am sure that they are not as well made as the NB -- but they sure are comfortable -- and I went back an bought another pair.]

The shoe works fine, but I have a couple of concerns
The shoe works fine, but I have a couple of concerns, and feedback to Amazon:1. Shoe is great fit, as expected.2. The shoe has a good appearance.3. After three months medium use, there is separation of the sole from the side of the shoe. Not the kind of longevity I expect from a cross trainer that is really worn as casual foot wear.4. Amazon: You need to carry more big and tall mens shoes. I ordered a 17 4E, and because of the impending failure of the shoe, and the fact that NB doesn't make this model in the form I bought, I have started cruising Amazon for similar shoes. The pickings are very slim, especially from NB, forcing me to order elsewhere. I liked the idea of getting my larger sized shoes from Amazon, but it appears that my glee and delight is only temporary.

Good quality, good looking shoes available in large (16) size
I like these shoes, they look nice for sport and casual wear, and the quality is good with the leather upper. But as someone who has a mild case of plantar fasciatis, I had to take out the original NB flat insole and replace them with Pinnacle Powerstep insoles. With that change, I can wear these shoes all day. I pretty much only wear New Balance shoes, because they are one of the few shoe makers to make size 16 shoes that I need. Thus I'm very familiar with various NB models. So I'll say, these tend to fit more narrow than a lot of other NB models. I normally wear 2E, but bought these at 4E, and they still feel snug in terms of their width. So whatever width you normally are, I'd order up one or two larger widths for these shoes, unless you want a really tight fit.

New Balance Remedy...
I've been purchasing New Balance shoes for years now, everything from walker's, runner's and cross trainer's. Seems to me the durability and comfort of Reeboks depend on the amount which also seems to be reflected in the "series", i.e. 400's-600's etc. The number one reason I keep buying New Balance is because of comfort. They just seem to fit my feet the best of any shoe. I have wide feet, a bit of Hobbit in me I suppose but never-the-less I love the fit of the EEE New Balance shoes. If you have wide feet I suggest you try these shoes in the proper width and enjoy the bliss. Now on to durability. The less expensive New Balance(again try and understand their series numbers) the less they last. Less arch support, tread durability, cheaper strings. I use the cheaper shoes for yard work etc. and save my nice ones for other occasions. They all have a purpose and do their jobs well. I have broke a few shoe strings on the cheaper versions but hey if they are yard shoes who's gonna care anyway, tie a knot in them and go on with your bad self.

Great all-purpose shoes for school!
I bought these for my 9th grade grandson for school. He has a pair of New Balance running shoes and a pair of boat shoes. This cross-training New Balance was just the shoe for him to wear on gym days (no need to switch shoes), to wear walking and playing, plus they look good with any school outfit he choses for the day. The most important thing is my grandson loves them. I'm glad Amazon carries New Balance. (I do recommend, if you have a NB store near you, to get your foot measured professionally by them. After that, ordering online is so easy and less expensive!) There are many shoe companies that do not carry half sizes or special fit sizes for active children who need the perfect fit. You can't go wrong ordering NB from Amazon because Amazon carries each of those special sizes. Just as importantly to me, when I order from Amazon, I get my products in a day or two--three at the most. I highly recommend this shoe and shopping at Amazon!
