Works Great!!
We ordered these not realizing that there were so many in the package. Lucky for us we needed them! They were perfect to rotate in/out of the freezer to use after surgery. They stack great on their sides. It's ability to remain cold lasts as long as one would need for a sprain... 20-25 min. I did not use the item for heat retention. Freeze time is 3-4 hrs if it is set next to another cold item. When frozen, it is not completely hard, which allows you to mash its contents further and form it into a shape to fit your body part. I would estimate that the item is larger than most ice packs and of good quality in general. However, my acrylic nail did pierce the package when I was mashing it. I think the packaging is thinner than most. If you are going to manhandle these on a field of football players, then maybe look elsewhere.

Helpful hot / cold packs
These are handy little hot / cold packs that are useful to keep on hand for minor sprains, headaches, or sore muscles. We use them so often that I stitched some little envelope-style holders out of a thin toweling material in the shape of little pillowcases to put them inside of; the toweling is helpful when they've been kept in the freezer to maintain a little bit of insulation when you're placing them directly on the skin. They do get cold when they're stored in the freezer! It's good to have enough on hand so that you can rotate them if needed. They are wonderful for migraines; just put one at the back of the head, and the other on the forehead. They are also helpful for use post-knee surgery; cold therapy is helpful for relieving pain and swelling. We have used these packs in our family almost daily for several months, and we haven't encountered any problems with leaking or package breaking. I imagine if you were to use them for both hot and cold therapy that their life would be reduced somewhat, especially if you accidentally overheat one in the microwave, but when you use certain ones exclusively for cold therapy, as we do, they last an extremely long time. I do highly recommend them. In fact, I've given a few away to friends who've visited and complained of aches or pains. I will be ordering more in the future!

Flexible Pain Relief
Easy to heat in microwave or to store in freezer. Nice quality. Provides temporary pain relief. One complaint: an additional label was affixed to the pack and is not completely heat-proof in microwave. It seems to burn.

Medical grade quality!!!
I love these! I was so happy to find this on Amazon! I've had many surgeries and the docs give me these packs and I LOVE THEM!!! So durable, great size and they can be hot or cold. So easy to use and they stay hot or cold for an easy 30 min. I have many of them, but my brother wanted one and I refused to part with mine- they last for YEARS! I got him 3 and I highly recommend getting a few to cycle them for an initial injury and the cold. I was worried that these would be expensive because of the quality but it's a great price!!! I leave couple at room temp if I want to heat it- it has nice soft gel so whatever you injured, it won't hurt to apply-- works great. I use the heated one to warm my bed at night or use as a handwarmer...they are great!

The Best Cold Packs!
These are the best ice packs/cold packs I've used. Mine are wearing out so need to reorder. Just checked when I bought them and they've lasted since June 2014! They get very nice and cold, and STAY cold for hours. I get migraine headaches several times/wk so these ice packs help relieve the pain a bit when put on the back of my head. The ice pack is a little stiff at first, but becomes flexible as it warms up. I wrap it up in a pillow case which helps keep the pack really cold for a long time! These ice packs are also very durable and don't leak out, as some of those blue gel packs can do. Just make sure to keep them in a separate spot in your freezer away from other stuff that could puncture a hole; this helps make them last too :-) UPDATE: when I reordered these I noticed that they weren't as "full" and don't stay as cold as the ones I bought in 2014. But I use them several times a day every day for migraines, carpal tunnel, tendinitis in my wrists, etc; so they take a beating! I'm reordering more.

Outstanding cold pack, Stays pliable when ice cold, withstands years of frequent use, hospital quality product, good for any age
I stumbled upon this item when I was looking up hot water bottles to use to relieve my abdominal cramps and I was overly excited because I recognized the familiarity of the packaging and name of the product. A few of these were provided to my father from a Florida hospital after his total knee replacement and then a year later I received my own two from an emergency visit when I found out that I had a fractured wrist. These were great and used by my entire immediate family (parents, sister and I) for years because they remained flexible even when frozen thanks to the solid state change freeze resistant gel within! *That was a major point why we loved them.* The few that we had lasted for YEARS (2001 until probably about 2009) and I was disappointed when they finally started to wear down at the seams and sprung small leaks. So, once I saw these I told my mom and planned to purchase at least one with my next order placement to verify that they were the same product as back then. When I received the first one I was pleased to see that it was the same exact cold pack! It remains entirely pliable when ice cold after being in the freezer as it is at room temperature. I do not recall any one in my family ever using it for a heat source, so I am not in a position to comment on the ability of that aspect in use. The only discrepancy I hold is that a single gel pack is available on here for the price of over six dollars, and that to me seems a little steep! I plan to keep the initial one I ordered until it wears out and see how long it lasts before I purchase another to see if it is worth the investment of multiple. However, if you are searching for a cold solution this is excellent for kids and sore adults alike and I do highly recommend it as a solution!
