Very good for review, my scores did go up!
I took the GRE twice. The first time I only used the "Cracking the GRE" companion book. The second time I took it I spent a few hours per week in the month leading up to the test reviewing with this book (1,007 GRE Practice Questions) and the "Cracking the GRE" book. I felt much more confident going in the second time (both because of my practice and taking it twice helps with the nerves). If you put the time into your studying and study for GOOD habits (as opposed to mindlessly answering questions), this book seems to be a good guide. My scores did go up quite a bit the second time, making making this book and taking the test very much worth the investment. My only complaint-- they need to include more tips for the "hidden plug in" section, but this was only one small part of the entire, very large, book.

A lot of questions, poor explanations
As advertised, there are a lot of questions in this book. The sheer quantity is the best quality by far. You will honestly have a hard time finding explanations that are less clear than they are in this book; diagrams are almost never included in the explanations for geometry questions, and it is not uncommon for explanations for complex problems to be only a sentence or two long.

Lots of practice, but lots of errors
It is good that there are so many practice problems, but there are a lot of errors in the examples and solutions, and this can be very frustrating. For example, there are at least 3-4 errors in just the intro and first section within Combinations/Permutations. For instance - the example they walk through on girls/boys in a gym class is wrong. As is drill 1, question 2. One of the solutions (drill 1, question 4) doesn't even seem related to the question and appears to have been copy/pasted from somewhere else.

Error City
I scored a 165 for the GRE quant, I regret getting this book as it is full of a plethora of errors. Their math language DOES NOT follow the same GRE format and is often wrong. Every 10 math problems I run into an error that ruins the entire problem. They have done a horrible job at preparing level 5 math problems. Its like they never even proofread it. I recommend the 5 lb. book of GRE practice problems, 100x better and is what helped me get my score.

Practice, practice, practice!
I'm not really sure you can succeed in writing the GRE without practicing and I think this is the mother of all practice books. If you have a section that's giving you issues going over the section in this book and doing the question at the end of the section is a sure fire way to have success in the GRE. What ever you do don't write the GRE before going through this book.

Awesome
After you understand how the test will go and what it incorporates this is an excellent book to tackle. I'm saying to burn through this book in a week or two for a good summary study guide. Every section it has gives you practice questions. For example, quantitative reasoning has like 14 sections. Each section focuses on something different. One may focus on decimals and fractions, and others can focus on geometry. great book

It does have a lot of practice question. But ...
It does have a lot of practice question. But the answer key is not so clear, for both of the math and verbal section. The math key sometimes has error.
