Better option than an standing desk converter
I actually bought this laptop arm extension mount in 2013 and it's become an indispensable utility for work and home. Every once in awhile I think "I should write a review about this"-- so here it is:The laptop extension mount is my "desk". Sometimes I work in my open kitchen / great room area and the holder easily secures to my counter and provides the flexibility of working with my laptop or notepad in a seated position or, by simply adjusting the holder to the topmost position, I can comfortably work standing up.It also swivels, so if I'm following a recipe, I can swing the arm to face my stove. After looking at standing desk converters, I found this extension mount to be a more attractive, flexible and portable option (and much less $$$). I recommend that you add a 4-5" piece of velcro tape to the bottom of the holder and the bottom of the laptop (use rough side of velcro on holder and soft side on laptop so that the laptop doesn't catch on clothing when you're traveling). I also have a portable treadmill that I sometimes place under the extension so that I can walk and work. Definitely a five-star item.

Really well built.
4 stars because it was advertised as having a 22 inch arm. I was looking for a very long arm so it would fit across my living room chair. The arm is actually only 16 inches. The remaining length is the laptop tray which doesn't really aid in extension if you mount it to your side. However I am going to tinker with it so it works because the product is so well built. This laptop arm is very heavy and very sturdy. It will likely outlive your computer AND your desk. It really does need to be mounter on something at least an inch thick and equally as sturdy. I think it maybe heavy enough to actually damage and break fiberboard. The instructions are only pictures so though it is very easy to put together, you may need help if you have never assembled anything before. There are no rubber or felt pads on the clamp screws and this may mar furniture when tightly screwed. The unit went together easily in about 15 minutes. Everything was well machined and lined up perfectly. Nothing feels loose or shoddy. The enclosed key-wrench is used for assembly of the clamp/post and tightening of all the joints to your preference. Rubber feet and velcro are included to create a nonslip surface for your laptop. The arm will swing 360 degrees and includes clips to keep wires out of the way. All the joints were tight enough on arrival. We haven't needed to adjust them. The arm only articulates laterally and can only be lowered to about 1" above table height. The base of the pole is as low as the arm can go.Compared to all the other wiggly, jiggly and shaky laptop stands/desks I've read about, this one is awell constructed gem. If the length is ok then go for it. You won't be sorry.

Very well made
I still cringe every time I open a box that says "Made in China" - sad but true. Same reaction as I was opening the box for this. However this time, no worries. This stand was packed well - even the various screws & nuts were separated and each packed in a vacuum sealed bag along with the required tools. The materials are very solid. Even the paint job (or maybe its anodized) is top notch. It all went together easy using some good instructions. There are 3 mounting options. I went with the countertop clamp and it is quite strong, no wiggles or jiggles when a load is placed on the stand.Final assembly can easily hold a large laptop. Only thing it is missing is a small extension platform for a mouse. The stand is big and when the arm is extended it does take up some room so be sure you plan where you will put it.Would recommend...

it comes out easily. When fully extended
I already had a pole mounted rack for dual monitors, and needed a bar that came out from the pole to securely hold a keyboard so that it would extend out fast my desk. Until I found something, I had the keyboard sitting on the desk with my knees out to the side. I didn't want to screw anything to the top of the desk and below it is a double drawer so I couldn't mount a tray under the desk either (maybe more of a cabinet/bookshelf with a desktop surface). This fit the bill perfectly as I was able to mount the new arm to the pole that was already there (after sliding off the monitor rack) and it secured tightly in place. I can now push the tray back over the desk when not in use and when I need it, it comes out easily. When fully extended, it is still very sturdy and the keyboard doesn't bounce. Impressive! Thank you.

Solid stable design...
Easy to assemble, high quality parts and finish. Used the C-clamp accessories to mount on a table next to a recliner. The clamp got a good purchase on the 1.5x1.5 inch metal tubing holding up the table top. The product would be even better if pre-cut padding was provided for the clamp shoe and vertical section to prevent scratching of the side and bottom of the item being clamped. I protected these surfaces by cutting up the pre-cut pads not needed for C-clamp use. The recliner is large with large arm rests, so the swing arm is about 6 inches too short to get the laptop centered over the chair. Will also cut the vertical tube down to 6 inches since the laptop only needs to be an inch hihger than the armrest to get the laptop over the chair seat.

warning -- better late than never
I bought this a while ago and have problems/struggles/negative outcomes with it for over a year. I finally took it off and tossed it (it literally weighs so much you wouldn't want to have to pay for return postage in any case.) First - there is no way you could reasonably expect to hold a monitor or laptop on this -- none of the joints hold tightly enough to keep the tray horizontal. (I grew tired of propping and re-tightening mine that I actually left it empty for a while, then one day I put 3 knit caps on it -- and it tilted down and dropped them on the floor!) Yes, it is the kind of thing that all of us want: Getting small electronics up off the desk, but unfortunately this is not the answer. Avoid this product (and probably the manufacturer as well.)
