used for fishing
I bought this for fishing and misc outdoor activities. I've never been a big fan of hats but having a shaved head, I need some protection from the sun. the first day I wore it I used it for Sun protection on a hot sunny evening. After the sun went down we got some small rain storms blowing in. I used it to keep my head warm during the rain. I wouldn't suggest it be used for warmth during winter. But again, having a shaved head with cold rain and wind blowing can get you cold pretty quick even during hot weather. This was just enough to keep my head warm by preventing direct wind on my head. I won't comment on the so called "tactical" uses that people always associate with the product because I don't use it that manner. Although I can see how it would be exteremly useful for an extended hiking/backpacking trip where every ounce counts. it's large enough to fit my big head. The olive drab color is a little bit brighter than I'm used to with OD green but I'm not using it as camo so I don't Care. Well made, light weight. Feels comfortable and there's many many ways you can wrap your head up. I do feel a little silly wearing it but when you are fishing, looking silly doesn't matter. You just need to be comfortable so you can get the fish. I just ordered 2 more in other, lighter colors

Excellent Shemagh - well made...
I purchased four of these - there are many color selections to choose from. Take your time in selecting the one you want. There are also many different ways to wear these. Go to YouTube and type in 'shemagh' to find videos on how to configure them. These are made in Pakistan and have a 'made in' label that indicates that. I'm going to guess they use some sort of a odd dye method, because they have a very strange smell to them. This is easy to fix. I filled up my kitchen sink with warm water and shampoo, submerged them and let them soak for about an hour. When I came back the water was saturated with dye - so don't wash these with your clothes! After about five more soakings and hand done rinses, the water was finally near clear. I was concerned about shrinkage since they are made from 100% cotton, so don't put them in the dryer - but happily after air dried (hung them from the shower rod), they were the same form factor as when I started... not to mention the smell was gone a replaced by the scent of the shampoo I used. These things are great for bug-out-bags and even for mowing the lawn. They will protect you from sand, dust, sun, and cold weather conditions, not to mention they can be used as arm slings, tourniquets, shade tarps, and water transfer. If you want a great Shemagh, this product is an excellent choice.

Great investment
A few weeks ago, I purchased this shemagh in OD Green and was very pleased with it when it arrived. Looked just like it did on Amazon and seemed very well made. It did (does) have a slightly odd smell to it, but quite honestly, I wouldn't feel it was quite "authentic" without it. I just received my 2nd one (in Tan/Black) and the only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star rating overall is because this one seems slightly smaller (inch or 2 shorter from tip to tip when folded in half diagonally) than the first one. I haven't washed this one yet, but I expect it to hold up (and soften up) just like the first one did. Overall, this is a GREAT investment for anyone that spends much time in the outdoors (cold or hot climate). One reviewer mentioned the shemagh was too short to wrap around her neck more than once as a scarf, which leads me to believe she's not folding it correctly - diagonally, then rolled or folded over a few times. I'm a big guy (19" neck) and the ones I received wrap around my neck just fine for use as a scarf. This simple piece of cloth is EXTREMELY versatile and can act not only as a scarf, but clearly also as head covering, camp towel or just as a superior replacement to the common bandana. This is one "Infidel" that HIGHLY recommends this piece of Middle Eastern clothing as a must have for the outdoor enthusiast.

Hand Wash First!
I did't see the star count for this product, but none of them should not be less than 5 stars with regard to the product. This is a real deal, made in Pakistan Shemagh. Its the same kind the bad guys wear, its the same kind the good guys wear. If someone gets this and doesnt like it, then they didn't want a Shemagh. The most important thing is to HAND wash this extensively prior to wearing it. Like most authentic shemaghs, it has a ton of dye left in it. I get mine as clean and rinsed as possible, and then hit it with a pot of boiling water. Once you do that, its a really nice Shemagh. If that too much trouble, go and get one of those cutesy little hipster ones at GAP or Old Navy. If you want a real Shemagh, drop some coin on this one or anything like it. I think they are great for keeping cool, using as a pad for hotspots on the fly, stopping rattling, and keeping dust outta the mouth and nose (smoke too). It actually filters out the really strong scent of charred human flesh and that is always a plus. For really bad smell situations, I add just a blip of tincture benzoin from my medical pack near the mouth/nose area and that works amazingly well. You could sit and enjoy the moment surrounded by charred flesh and not really have it effect your olfactory lobe. Get a couple. I usually pack 2. Seems to work out. Thanks

It's well made, I didn't have any issues with stitching or anything. They work great for camping or being out in the woods. I love having mine on dusty days and when I'm out surrounded by bugs.
