Soft and Durable, but Loosen Over Time
For a late 20-something guy, I'm fairly stuck in my ways and rarely venture outside my comfort zone when it comes to underwear. From the time I was just a kid until I graduated high school and went to college I only wore whatever underwear my mother bought for me. The only time I ever actually requested that she buy me something different was when I was 11 or 12 and begged for something other than kiddie briefs with Superman or Ninja Turtle characters on them (yes, I wore Underroos until junior high...*sigh*). After that, she only ever bought me multi-packs of plain WHITE briefs, which I was completely fine with. Other than asking her to buy something other than Underroos, I never paid much attention to my underwear, so I rarely noticed whenever she would buy a new package of briefs to replace my worn out pairs. When I moved away for college and had to start buying underwear for myself, I stuck with buying the same style that I'd worn for years...plain jane "tighty whities". And until I graduated college and got engaged, I never thought of my underwear as being geeky or worn exclusively by old men and little boys. However, the first time my fiancee (then girlfriend) saw me changing clothes and discovered that I had on plain snug and tight white briefs under my cargo shorts, and then after looking in my underwear drawer and laundry basket to find nothing but a bunch of pairs of both old and new white Hanes and Fruit of the Loom briefs, she sort of made it her mission to change the type of underpants I wear.Being a pretty amiable and "try anything once" kind of guy, I agreed to let her pick different styles and brands of underwear for me to try. Unfortunately, her attempts to persuade me that boxer briefs or boxers were the way to go for a guy in his 20s was not successful. I hated wearing every single pair of boxer briefs, boxers, and trunks that she got me to try and I always ended up changing back into my regular cheap tighty whities. I'm a briefs guy...I like the comfort, softness, and support of briefs, and she finally came to accept that. Knowing that I wouldn't wear anything but briefs, she decided to get me to try higher quality brands, even though I didn't really want to spend very much on my underwear. In doing so, she persuaded me to try Ralph Lauren as it is known for quality products and for being comfortable. After having first bought a package of RL mid-rise briefs, I found that they sat way too high on my waist. And while I was accustomed to full-cut Hanes or FOTL briefs sitting right under my belly-button, the RL mid-rise briefs sat well above that and again I found myself not wearing them at all. So another attempt was made with RL low-rise briefs, which do sit lower but still feel more like a full-cut brief than even my Hanes/FOTLs do. I do agree and very much appreciate that they are incredibly soft, durable and made from high quality cotton, but I don't like that they stretch out faster than my other briefs. I consider myself a small to average size guy (5'10", 170 lbs.)...and I definitely made sure to buy the correct size. Unfortunately, wearing them all day long inevitably leads to the elastic in the leg openings stretching out and the crotch becoming too loose, unsupportive, and baggy. I look for constant support and SNUGNESS from the briefs I wear, and these don't stay tight around my crotch and lower bottom like my other briefs do. My fiancee suggested I go a size smaller next time just to see if they work/fit better; and while I might do that I'd imagine I'll only be wearing these if and when I run out of clean pairs of my regular white briefs.

IFFY ON THE DESCRIPTION
The description of these briefs say "Low Rise" but, even after washing, they seemed a little on the big side. RL briefs are all my husband likes to wear because he likes the low rise fit. Pulling them out of the packaging, however, they seemed like mid-rise briefs. After washing, they still seemed a little on the long side. In my rush to get them washed, I didn't take a picture of the packaging, which described the contents as "Classic Fit" and "Classic Cotton, Low Rise Briefs" -- hence the confusion. The inside (brief) label actually says "Classic Cotton." Anyway...at this point, it's time to replace the old unders, so no matter. The fit is a higher waist than previous purchases of these briefs (it could be that they're still new), but they're shorter than the mid-rise style. Material is good quality, and it's nice to have a dark grey in the pack. Now, my huband says, if he gets in an accident and his pants need to be cut off, he won't be too embarassed since he has new unders. *LOL*Order arrived earlier than expect (always a plus!), packaged well. Before I ordered, I actually double-checked with two to three other retailers (higher end that sell RL briefs), and the picture/description was the exact same, so it's very likely I'll order more to replace the other ones needing to be retired...and this company offers the best price. I like that I can order online to avoid getting swarmed by store employees wanting to take the sale when I walk in a store.

He says that they are comfortable, not binding
My husband loves these men's briefs and has had me order more. They are pricey, but he says that they are worth it. He says that they are comfortable, not binding, and are made of a nice, quality cotton fabric that doesn't result in his retaining extra body heat. To recap, he began with Hanes briefs many years order. He stayed with them until they made briefs with thinner fabric and abbreviated the sizing. He then switched to BVD until they went out of business and the new company changed the styling and the fabric. He then discovered the comfort of men's Starter briefs, but they were discontinued. He tried the Penneys Stafford brand but didn't like the cut. Jockeys, in particular, were not comfortable because of their unusual cut. The Ralph Lauren Classic low-rise briefs are keepers!

A Very Happy Man
It is a unique event: my dear man opened his surprise package and "These feel so comfortable, they fit as no other "shorts" have ever fit". How did you find them? Thank you. Can you get more? Now this is a statement from an unpretentious man. Shorts??Would I have only known that a man could have a reaction to his "lingerie" that I thought would only be forthcoming from me with mine. The briefs are well made and I predict they will see long wear. And would you believe I thought that I should have found those fancy man thongs to see this reaction. Yes this man enjoys his new comfort in many ways. Thank you R.L. The important part of this story is that this underwear is exactly --low rise brief. No more saggy -well you know those white things that are now in the rag bag!!!! Keep them available, please. P.J. Today

I'VE BEEN WEARING
I've been wearing a different Designer brand name, Low Rise Briefs for some time....In comparing these two Designers, the Ralph Lauren Low Rise Briefs fit me on the slightly looser side....also the sides were cut wider as compared to the other Designer Low Rise pair I was accustomed too. However, these felt comfortable, the fabric felt better after machine washing (...and drying) leaving me satisfied with the product and the purchase. In fact, I would buy them again! (.....for the price here was a much better deal as compared to the price I saw in a major Name Dept. store.) ......and now I feel like I'm Living the Ralph Lauren Life Style.

I will make the best of it
I've been buying this brand for a lot of years, and all others were in exact sizes. Those were not bought through amazon thought. For some reason i fall in between the L and XL sizes available. I will make the best of it.
