CowboyStudio Photography 5 X 10ft Blue Muslin Backdrop with One Section Telescoping Crossbar, Background Support System

I bought this for a last minute photoshoot I needed to get done for a local surf shop and as usual, Amazon delivers with flying colors.Now to the review of the product. For the price, you can't really argue with quality or durability of the product since you can always spend more for better quality materials. But, I will say that for the price, this is a great deal. Great for single person or tight 3-4 person family portraits.The muslin is pretty thin and somewhat transparent. This wasn't a big deal for me because I only shot with one light (Einstein with 22" beauty dish) but if you plan on shooting with more than one light, or maybe the backlight from behind the muslin cloth is somewhat strong, you won't get the seamless black backdrop. (I'll post photos from the shoot that's using this backdrop).The stands are decent but they're not completely sturdy by any means. I would suggest only using this indoors and on even floors if you don't have any sandbags or weights. Because the muslin is thin and light, the horizontal bars don't sag even when it's extended all the way.Also wanted to confirm with the other reviewers that this isn't the truly the size they claim. It's a bit shorter assuming a few inches were use to make the beam sleeve.I probably would've given this 5 stars if the muslin was a bit thicker. That's my only real complaint here.

This backdrop kit comes with everything you need to set up a backdrop besides sandbags, which are not always necessary.The white backdrop is a good size for single subject coverage, and works well for photo booths as if there are large groups, usually it is okay to include a bit of the background to get everyone in the photo.My only gripe with it is that it does feel a little flimsy at times, and it does flex if accidentally tugged or run into, so you must make sure this sees limited stress, which is a reasonable trade off for its lower cost.Overall, this product is a great addition to anyone needing a cheap backup or replacement backdrop set up, and would definitely recommend keeping just in case.Bonus note: The portability this offers is amazing, lightweight bag, lightweight stands, easy to toss into the car.

Perfect size for what I needed it for (home studio, and photo class at work), and it expands to a larger size if needed. Fairly cheaply made across the board, but it works for stationary purposes, not sure how well this will fair outdoors or if your are lugging it multiple locations. The white sheet works great if you use back lighting, otherwise it's super thin and wrinkly and does not work well. I could have sworn this one was supposed to come with clamps, mine did not, but I could be mistaken (I looked at a lot of them before deciding on this one), But I would highly recommend purchasing 6+ clamps with this as the back drop or any other backdrop you plan to use will drupe and wrinkle if you don't tighten them.

The second time I used this, I was trying to collapse one of the stands, and the metal literally bent in my hands. I would send it back for a replacement, but it shipped in several boxes and would be a huge hassle to return, and probably wouldn't be any better quality the second time around. It was very embarrassing that this happened in front of my clients. I thought CowboyStudio was a solid name, with a solid product. Nothing SOLID about this thing.....Should it be a quality made product, it was very useful for the purposes. The height adjusted easily and was basically easy to assemble. I am a professional newborn photographer, and use this as a portable studio & backdrop system when going to my clients homes.UPDATE: This stand is a piece of junk. Used a 2nd time and the thing is literally falling apart. Since it was over 30 days, Amazon referred me to cowboyStudio - who said they would ship a replacement. A week later, and their UPS tracking number is still showing a shipping label was created, but nothing ever shipped. Now, I have a another session coming up where I need a working stand. I will not have it, as cowboyStudio will not expedite shipping for me, or provide any sort of customer service whatsoever, even in spite of their neglecting to ship the original package. WHAT A JOKE - the "office manager", Rachel, said the owner, who is out of the country, doesn't allow expedited shipping, and even under the circumstances, would do NOTHING to help me. Talk about BAD customer service and a BAD BAD product.

I'll say right up front that I am not a professional photographer. I am a pretty serious hobbyist and bought this so that I could do a picture booth at a party and also for family portraits. For the price that I paid, overall I was very pleased with the quality and construction. I'm sure that if you use this every day, you would want heavier materials, but for the occasional use, it should be more than adequate as long as you are somewhat careful when you assemble it or break it down. It also comes with a nice carrying case with pockets for the stands and crossbeam. In my case, they missed a seam when sewing one of the zippers. I notified CowboyStudio and four days later, I had a new carrying case delivered to my house. I was super impressed with their customer service.

I needed a backdrop for some photos I'm planning to take for an organization. I'm not a professional photographer, I'm a freelance videographer. This was a minimal investment which will pay off in a big way.These aren't the sturdiest tripods, but for the price, it's awesome. The white backdrop is not very white, and I don't use a flash yet, still video lights, so I've been experimenting to see how well they work. I have come to the conclusion, I really need a flash to make this work the best. Saving up for that next, and maybe some other backdrops.I'm very happy with my purchase though.
