PRETTY AMAZiNG...MORE SO FOR THE PRiCE
this replaces a sony running radio that cost over twice as much and weighed slightly more, which i would have kept until it bonked out...and in fact i did, as it went out on me the same day i ordered this. the technology was about 7yrs old, when i bought it, so i think it did really well for its genre. but now i had to replace, and hoped new technology would be better at a lower price. short story shorter: yes. at least if talking about this radio. my strategy with something utilitarian, as tunes during my 60min runs, is to find the best ratings with as many people rating the item, at my price. honestly did not expect to get something this low in price, but i didn't have the money for more. and the reviews were many and among the several top rated. how'd it do? as my title says, amazing. the sound is better than what it replaced, tho i did need to buy my own stick on clip. also had to use the headphones i already had, all of which was fine. clips were $6. after my first 60min run i'll say this is a dream for running or other extreme compact use, AND it holds 2 batteries, which means longer play that my old radio which held just one. i can't think of a better radio to purchase under $20 if looking for something that sounds good and is small and light.

Great pocket radio!
Great multiband pocket radio. SW reception is great even with short antenna. Clip a wire on the antenna and reception gets even better! FM is good and AM band is good too. The one thing that is stellar on this radio is the audio, the sound from this little radio is THE BEST!!! The only improvements this pocket radio could use is improvement of the AM band reception, but with that said I am a DX AM band enthusiast so I can be a bit particular about AM reception on a radio receiver. You will absolutely love this radio, best feature is AA battery rather than recharge BS.

Amazingly impressed
First off I gave it 4 stars because in my opinion 5 stars is absolutely perfect and it's not. That being said, it is a solid radio that has amazing sound (thanks to DSP) and the volume is loud with little distortion at full volume. Obviously FM is the better band. AM and SW are decent if you live near a major city, however the tiny 4 section antenna is effective yet minimally receptive. The scan feature is awesome and will give you up to 30 found/saved frequencies, which you can cycle through using the (+/-) button. You can also save up to 3 favorite stations per band which is not much, but better than nothing I guess. Overall, it was the clarity of the sound and the volume that impressed me the most and yes I would definitely buy it again.

It's good.
I was skeptical about the quality of such a cheap radio but my more expensive Sangean has a couple of bugs that drive me nuts. So I figured it was time to try something else. I like the 2AA battery, headphone jack and side scroll tuning and volume wheels configuration. USB rechargeable radios make me cringe, it's just not natural. The reception is on par with my Sangean, plus this has SW as well. Audio is clear through the speaker and ear bud. The best thing I like about this radio is that when scrolling through stations with the scroll wheel, after a few scrolls it starts scanning automatically until it hits a signal or you stop it. No complaints at all really other than the back light turns off too quickly. It's really a good radio. SW reception is not that good but it's not on my other SW Yachtboy either. I will try SW again next time I travel.

Where is the Short Wave?
There is no shortwave on this radio. It's an OK AM/FM radio. That's it.

Got it for the fm only
Fm works okay,24 hour clock got some getting use to.the am scan was a null, and the shortwave was a wash.why not a fm with a extended range?

Great little radio!
Has quickly become my go to radio for excellent am/fm reception. Great sound and easy to use with the dials for tuning and volume. I haven't picked up much on SW and I think I would get the weather version next time when I replace it.

Disappointing
The reception is poor if not nonexistent. FM might work better if I were in a city but I live in a rural area. AM and SW should do well, especially at night, but I receive very poor reception. Reception improves when I am outdoors, but not dramaticly.

Radio for those who listens to shortwave stations, fm reception is great. Value for money. Quite handy to carry around and price also affordable. Go for it!

Allowing an external mains power supply would be an improvement.
