Grillin and Chillin
I love this little grill! Used it tonite for the first time. Grilled a fillet and even baked my take and bake loaf of bread on it. The steak was seared perfectly with grill marks and a little crispy on the edges and was so juicy it was perfect! Do not listen to those nay sayers. It makes a better steak than any gas grill or even charcoal grill. Juicy, and done to perfection. Loved baking the bread on it too. I just wish it was on taller legs of some kind. I kept mine table top size and put it on an outdoor metal table to cook on. Just the right height. Looking forward to grilling chops and a pork loin too. Bet it will make baked potatoes too. Heat it up really good and you are food to go. I also greased the grill which I always do anyway....Packing was ok..I bought a previously opened package and they could have done better on repackaging it to send it out again. They just put it in a bigger box with a piece of paper on top! Big deal. It luckily arrived ok with all the parts. I can see using it for up to 4 people if necessary. Very easy to put together bc it is already mostly together when you get it! One reason I bought this one. If I can do it anyone can!

Terrible Grill
Terrible Grill. I live in a high rise apartment so electric grilling is my only option. I purchased the Cuisinart based on brand name/reputation and am totally disappointed. 1. Temperature control is a problem. As soon as the heating element gets red the controller shuts it off until it cools and then it heats up again briefly. It will never sear anything or give smoky barbecue flavor and rarely even burns grill marks on food. Cooking time is unpredictable and lengthy and eventually the food is cooked, but not as expected from a barbecue grill. 2. The grease catch tray leaks profusely onto my tile floor. A mess. The grease tray is tubular shaped with a small hole in the middle, so it can never be completely emptied and can not be cleaned. I called Cuisinart about each of the problems and they refused to accept a return for refund. They courteously shipped a replacement temperature controller and a replacement grease tray. Neither work any better than the originals. Save yourself the disappointment and heartache and don't buy it.

Works Well
This review is from: Cuisinart CEG-980T Outdoor Electric Tabletop Grill (Lawn & Patio) We moved to a condo that does not allow gas grills on the deck. I researched many electric grills to see which one would meet our needs. After comparing reviews I decided to go with the Cuisinart mainly due to the brand. I have other Cuisinart products and have been impressed with the quality of their products. So far we have grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and pork chops. We have been impressed with it grill. It takes up about 10 mins to heat up. When grilling it does put the grill lines in the meat. The meat cooks well but don't check it often, because the grill does lose heat when you open the lid. This is not major, you just learn how to cook this way. The only negative about the grill and has been mentioned several times is the grease trap. It is very small and needs to be emptied after each use. I have had an overflow yet, but we take precautions by putting and rug under it when I grill. I do like the looks and the compact ability of the grill. I am very glad that I made the purchase. I recommend this grill for people in my situation that can't have a gas or charcoal grill. You will still have the joy of cooking out.

We love ours.
We have used this grill 6 or 8 times so far and love it. Addressing some negative views from others: It does maintain a set temperature according to where you set the dial. Thus the light goes off and on. We usually leave ours on MAX. Preheating on MAX for about 5 minutes or so really gets it ready. Hot dogs and hamburgers are great. Sear marks are always there for us. I let ours burn off on MAX while eating. I use crumpled aluminum foil to clean the grate while still warm. Follow up with paper towel. I wait a day or so and clean the bowl with a grill brush. First remove the burner by removing the 2 Phillips screws (very simple to do). I use another small brush to sweep the brunt drippings to the grease catcher hole after removing the grease cup. We use ours on a carpeted patio so we never use it when its wet. Caution: excessive grease accumulation will catch fire. Keep the unit in view always. Seasoning sprinkled on meat is very important. If the control ever quits working I'll buy a new one.

Itโs a little tight if your steak is very thick

Grilling made easy
I have had this grill for a while now and it is the perfect electric grill for a patio while living in a condominium. I donโt have to use charcoal or gas and it has the same flavor when I cook meat or fish. I season my meat with hickory or mesquite smoke and get the same result.

OK for low tempurature grilling or baking
I purchased this electric grill for more outdoor cooking and keep the heat outside. I also have a gas grill but finding and filling propane can be a pain. I had hopes for an electric grill, but the temperature level for this electric grill is just not there to really grill. It did work pretty well for baking fish wrapped in tinfoil. The grill did take more than 15 (more like 30 ) minutes to get to a baking temperature. So far the only setting I have used is "MAX" 100 percent of the cooking time and that was for tinfoil wrapped fish. Keep the lid closed or all the heat is just lost. I'm using this grill without an extension cord plugged directly into standard 120v / 15 amp outlet. In my opinion far worse than just an oven. I attempted to grill turkey burgers and the cooking time to get to a safe internal food temperature seems double the time to "bake" than what is normally considered "grilling". Pretty disappointed.

Perfect BBQ for use on a balcony where gas units are not allowed. Lots of heat, sufficient to prepare a steak.

Great item for two retirees works well and is easy to clean. Have left it outside without the controls and had zero problems. Doesn't get super hot and would not be good to sear steaks but cooks them well but does a very good job. Good for two or three people but not a lot of room for much more.

Isn't a gas grill for sure but definitely cooks burgers and steaks perfectly and doesn't make my condo smell! Easy to clean, especially if you put tin foil under the burners. Folds down nicely and compactly!

When it arrived I was very excited but after using it very disappointed it does not hold the temperature keeps , Kept going on and off and would not grill the food appropriately and take way too long After first use the lead had a band in it allowing air to get out during cooking I believe it was not thick enough to hold the heat that it did disperse

I was really excited to get this grill, it is small and easy to setup. Great for apartment or small place setting. It is electric. the grill space is ok. There are a couple of issues, the grill doesn't heat as much as you think it should. it takes a long time for things like burgers and boneless chicken thighs to cook. It gets really hot but then looses its power. We have used multiple times and this happens every time. Hot dogs, great! the other issue is that is not as easy to clean up. there is a lot of buildup on the bottom and since it has the electric coils, which don't remove, you can't really clean the bottom of it properly. If you want to cook vegetables in a basket, they don't really fit if you want to close the lid. I will give it a couple of more tries but I might have to upgrade to another brand as I do like the power of a grill.
