High value, low price
I got this flute out of curiosity, since I've been a musician for decades but never got around to trying a western concert flute. I was dismayed in my search at first due to every "beginner" flute recommendation I could find from reputable sources were priced well into the 3-figure range upwards of $600, sometimes over $1000. I'd recently purchased a Chinese xiao bamboo flute and found that there were quality instruments available for ~$50, so a tenfold jump in price for something of similar quality seemed completely ridiculous to me. There had to be something reasonably good but cheaper. Enter this flute. NOTE: I made several adjustments to the keys via the adjustment screws, and additionally made a minor adjustment to one of the levers that coordinates combined key closure for the Bb key which required ever so slightly bending the metal of that mechanism as per instructions from a flute technician. If you're not willing/able to learn how to adjust a flute to optimize its performance, your experience might differ greatly from mine, as there were some minor leaks when I first received the flute. However, once I had made the adjustments to the keys, the flute plays beautifully. No issues with the joints, pads, or cork so far after 4 months of daily use. There are the usual coloration changes at high-contact locations despite wiping it down after use, e.g. the mouthpiece and thumb keys, but beyond this everything seems to be holding up. Given that the material is nickel silver, you won't get the same tone that you would get from one of the $600+ flutes made from actual silver or other materials, but you will get a flute that still plays well, sounds like a flute, and gives you the opportunity to learn a new instrument without selling your kidney.

Nice flute, warm sound
Received promptly (which says a lot since I live in Hawaii) and flute was in great condition. Decided to pick up the flute again after not playing for almost 35 years. I realized it would cost a bundle to restore my intermediate Artley flute but I didn't want to spend a lot in case my skills were past redemption. This flute was so inexpensive, I was willing to try it sight (and sound) unseen. Happily, the sound of this flute is very warm and the split E mechanism was a plus! The shape of the embouchure hole (more of a rounded rectangle rather than oval/round) was perfect for me. BTW - I had no problem hitting the third octave notes and my middle-lower register notes were full and warm. Unfortunately, turns out I'm allergic to the nickel in the lip plate. But it did inspire me to continue playing. Now that I knew I wouldn't embarrass myself, I went to a music store, tried out a selection of intermediate flutes, and purchased an intermediate DiZhao (solid silver, open hole, offset G, split E). The Lazarro flute is great for a "re-learner" to reacquaint oneself with the flute and build one's confidence, but once you get back into the grove, the slower key action will hinder your progress into the intermediate level.

Great Price for Great Basic, but Very Nice flute
Great all around flute that sounds good. This was a gift but the recipient loves it. Only thing is that it came with lubricant for the connecting joints and it definitely helped putting it together, but upon research everyone suggests not to use it as it can affect the sound....I have no clue... However for the price you get a great flute in a great bundle, and even the hard case is of good quality for the whole price. A lot of times companies will take short cuts on quality of included accessories to keep the price down, however this company did not. I absolutely reccomend this for novices & casual players, but if you don't know a lot about flutes you would never know it wasn't a professional quality build.

This is surprisingly a wonderful beginner flute
I've played the flute for 23 years. I play a high end silver flute and play in an orchestra and jazz band. My daughter wants to learn to play the flute and violin. She is still unsure which instrument she wants to focus on so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a flute yet. I ordered this for her and it came in today. This is surprisingly a wonderful beginner flute. The tone is beautiful and it is very responsive. The keys are smooth and it plays beautifully. It has a nice weight and feels good in hand. This is definitely worth the money for someone looking for a backup instrument or a beginner. I don't regret this purchase at all.

For the price, this is alright.
I bought this when I was just wanting to decide whether to get back into playing again. My ex husband pawned my good flute for cigarette money some 18 years before, when I was fresh out of high school, and I hadn't played since. This flute reminded me how much I truly loved playing and though I've since upgraded - nothing fancy, just an intermediate eastman for Christmas last year and a slightly nicer Jupiter I happened upon at a pawn shop, I'm not made of money, though I dream about that Sankyo model 301 every day - this holds its own for someone who is on a tight budget but really wants to play. It really doesn't take a lot of air to play effectively like some other cheap flutes and the mechanism isn't terribly clunky or stiff, and though the tone is a little flatter than either my Eastman or my Jupiter, it sounds fine enough. I don't find I have to compensate too much for leaky keys. This is a decent value for the price if you or your kid want to play but your budget leaves a rental or the purchase of a more recommended brand out of reach.

Good value
I've tried Lazarro, Mendini, and Glory. When I had to buy another (fell over and bent key), I choose Lazarro. The second one almost as good as first. First was excellent. Second one, tolerances of foot/headjoint not perfect, but still good. I always wonder how much inexpensive flutes are hit and miss as not sure how consistent quality is among different manufacturers. Headjoint/footjoint tolerance over time not same; i.e., headjoint of first Lazarro did not fit into new one. Probably true of most inexpensive flutes though. In comparison, the Glory to me just has no projection especially in low octave and low C almost impossible. tolerance of fit on Glory also was loose on one end and tight on the other--not sure if just one I got. Mendini is my second favorite very similar to Lazzaro. If all else same, the case of Lazarro is better IMHO. Positve: 1. Balanced tone. Low C nor high C not real tough. 2. Headjoint/Footjoint tolerances usually good (first was better). Headjoint/footjoint fit without a lot of tension. 3. Case is great. It got a hard cover case that just snap locks shut--no struggling to find the zipper our balancing the open case like Mendini and Glory. Negative: 1. The lower octaves become almost impossible after a 30 minutes or so of play unless you wipe out the flute often; i.e., for some reason, moisture in Lazarro renders low C almost impossible to play. Did not seem to have this issue on Mendini so not me.

Poor quality instrument
I played the flute in elementary school and middle school. When I went off to college, my mom kept my flute and decided to try to pick it up herself. Despite the fact that she doesn't really practice very much, I didn't want to ask for it back and discourage her, so I let her keep it. I picked up that flute this Christmas and played it a bit and decided to buy a flute for myself. I just got this flute and immediately noticed that it sounds bad, even for a cheap practice flute. My previous beginner flute sounded much better. Worse, this flute would not play a low F# through B flat. Out of the notes that it did play, they were all out of tune by different amounts, so I could not bring it into tune by adjusting the headpiece. I'm not sure if I just happened to get a defective unit, but the flute I received does not meet the bar of a functioning musical instrument. If I got this when I was trying to learn in elementary school, I would've gotten discouraged trying to make the first note since the first, and easiest, note that new students learn on the flute is not playable on this one.

Malfunctioning Key
Needed something to get back into playing for a reasonable price. Received the order fairly quick and mostly is ok quality. The E key is malfunctioning pads have a lot to be desired. Still waiting for contact with seller to get a replacement.
