That’s kind of all there is to these screws, they arrive packed into a sturdy plastic bag with the top sealed shut with a few staples through a cardboard label. I ordered the 500 quantity bag of the 35mm screws and that’s exactly what I got, they’re 35mm from the bottom of the hex head to the self-drilling tip. From the screws i’ve handled and looked at, they’re flawlessly made I’ve got no clue if there’s actually 500 in the bag as I haven’t manually counted them out, but I did a check with my scales for a rough count. The full bag weighs in at 2584g and a single screw is barely over 5g, so there should be a few more in the bag than the claimed 500 pieces. I also gave a handful of them a quick test and they’ve had no problems self drilling into plastic, wood and metal when used with a magnetic 8mm socket in an impact driver or combi drill. So they should work great for any job that needs a self-drilling screw with a sealing washer on it. The £39.39 pricing is pretty good for 500 fully threaded 35mm screws, the ones I’d normally pick up are closer to £10.99 per 100. So these screws from DIYUK are significantly better value with no discernable difference in quality. Of course time will tell if they hold up in the weather when they’re left untreated, but otherwise I have no concerns or issues with the screws and I'm happy to recommend them.

Description: The DIYUK Roofing Screws consist of 20mm long, hex head, self-drilling, zinc-plated steel fixing screws, specifically for securing metal roofing sheets or metal wall cladding panels onto wooden battens, or metal supporting trusses or brackets. The screws have self-drilling cutting points, similar to a standard drill bit. The screws have an 8mm hex head, enabling them to be driven using a conventional hex head socket, with an extension drive adapter. The screws also incorporate a rubber sealing washer for sealing against water ingress, a feature I really like. Testing: I tested out the quality of the screws by drilling into a 3mm thick aluminium bracket. The drill point cut into the aluminium effortlessly, which makes them very easy to use, though the material is not as hard as steel. I've tested the screws and they are capable of drilling up to 3 to 4mm thick steel, though anything thicker may be approaching their limit. Conclusion: A good quality product, suitable for roofing of cladding use. The 100 bulk pack offer better value for money.
