Excellent, perfect size and gets the job done well!

I have been really pleased with this flute cleaning tool. I have only used the long piece of this set. I am not really sure what the short piece is for. This cleaning tool is fluffy and I feel confident in its ability to dry the inside of my flute. There are other similar cleaning tools out there, but this one is the fluffiest I have found so far and it holds up its form and doesn't get matted down with moisture. Important Note: Do NOT leave this cleaning tool or any tool for that matter inside your flute for storage. The pads need to dry and they cannot do that if the airway is impended. Also, this tool needs to air out and allowed to completely dry between uses for it to effectively clean.

I only use this as a pass through swab. I wrap my silk scarf around the long piece and pass it through the tubing of the flute. Works nicely. *Bonus*..... With the foam tip I wrap the scarf around that and it's perfect for cleaning out the head. It gets all the moisture out up close to the cork area and the all around too. I do not leave this inside my flute.

I'm in marching band, and I noticed how my pads would get dirty, and sticky, and just plain nasty, so I bought a cleaner. I thought it would work, since it was fluffy, but in return, it gave me saliva stuck fibers, and it wouldn't come out. Not even when I put it in the dishwasher. So, I turned to the more expensive option. This product. I was hesitant buying it, because of my past experiences with flute pad savers, but all my friends said they were perfect, so I gave it a shot. Boy, am I glad I listened. I love this product! it Absorbs saliva, takes away the nasties and stickiness my pads were getting from my left in saliva, and just overall helped me care for my flute. It hasn't broken, and is easy to wash (just throw it in the dishwasher). It remains fluffy, and soft, and is just overall and amazing investment. Now that I haveone, I feel like I got a deal for how good this product is. I would recommend it to any flute player. It is a must have! (especially for those who play everyday.)

Of all the pad savers out there, this is the one to get. Some trap moisture against the pads. This one doesn't because it is made with capillary-acting microfibers. It will also not damage the octave vent tube the way some others (and swabs) can. This pad saver is also more effective than a swab when used correctly. The correct procedure is to insert the pad saver, then rotate and oscillate it with keys closed to get moisture out of toneholes and off pads. Wipe the moisture off the pad saver and repeat until it is no longer picking up moisture. It will be more effective than any swab. Swabs tend to push moisture into toneholes. Most of the negative opinions are based on other poorly designed and made pad savers, or incorrect use. Just sticking it into the horn and closing the case until the next time it is played is not the way to go.

These are great pad savers! Dry as much as possible before leaving in and they do their job!

It is called "shove it", for a reason, because this is how you use it, but seriously, product is good quality and does the job. What is the job? Keeping your sax pads from rotting and whole instrument maintained fresh and sounding good. High amount of moisture is good for mushrooms, but not necessarily recommended for leather based sax pads. IF it did not work there is possibility that the actual problem is coming from the area - as one major mouthpiece manufacturer said - above the reed. If you are smiling now, then you know, if you are puzzled, stick with the guitar. Live is good, and so is this product.
